Eagles will return to Battle in Beantown and make Warrior Challenge debut

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – After opening the regular season with a convincing victory at the George Dales Invitational, the Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team returns to action Friday, Sept. 20 in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College, along with Wayne State University's Second Annual Warrior Challenge presented by RunDetroit Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Eagles will head to Jamaica Plain, Mass. for the second consecutive campaign, after finishing the 2018 edition in 10th place with a team score of 254 points. The Green and White boasted two of the event's top six runners last season, as recent graduate Sydney Meyers earned fourth place with a time of 17:18.9, while graduate student Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Township, Mich.-Chippewa Valley) clocked in at 17:24.6 to claim sixth place. In all, five members of the current roster participated in EMU's most recent trip to Franklin Park.

Eastern is among 22 women's programs slated to compete in the race, along with Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo and three top-30 programs: No. 25 Dartmouth, No. 27 Syracuse, and No. 29 Georgia Tech. The 5K race will start at 3 p.m.

Following their journey to the Bay State, the Eagles will wrap up the weekend by returning to Southeast Michigan to make their debut in the Second Annual Warrior Challenge, hosted by Wayne State University. The 6K race will take place at Willow Metropark in New Boston, Mich. and will commence at 10:30 a.m.
