Men's Golf Sits in Fifth After Day One at Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) leads the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team after day one of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, notching a top 10 score to lead the Eagles to a fifth-place standing after day one, March 16. Breault turned in a two-under 70 in his first round, and followed up with a 73 on the par-72 El Campeon Golf Course.
As a team, EMU sits fifth with a tally of 579 (286-293=579) after the first day of competition, trailing Yale (285-293=578) by just one stroke and in front of Mid-American Conference rivals Northern Illinois (591) and Akron (616). Kansas State leads after the first day with a 568, while UCF (570) and Illinois State (571) make out the rest of the top five.
Breault posted a 143 (70-73=143) to lead Eastern on the day, while redshirt freshman Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) turned in a 145 (72-73=145) to earn a spot in the tournament's top 16. Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) currently sits in a tie for 30th with a 148, while Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada) also has a spot in the top 40 at a tie for 36th with a 149 Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) sits just two strokes back of Celone with a 151.
Eastern Michigan finishes the Mission Spring Inn Spectacular Sunday, March 17, with an 8:15 a.m. start time.
