MAC Names Box Golfer of the Week for the Third Time in 2025

Junior is now tied for the fourth-most weekly awards in program history
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- For the third time this season, the Mid-American Conference has named Eastern Michigan University's Charlie Box as it's MAC Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced today, Nov. 7. Box, who recently tied for sixth in Hawai'i, earned the award for the third time after being selected for the award in back-to-back weeks at the end of September and into October.
Box (Leicester, England/Wreake Valley Academy/Hutchinson CC) tied for sixth at 6-under 210 (70-67-73) at the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational in Aiea, Hawai'i, Nov. 5-6, as he posted his fourth top 10 finish of the season and third consecutive after tying for seventh at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate (Sept. 28-29) before winning the West Bay Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 6-7). Box, who posted two rounds of par or better for the fifth time in six tournaments this fall, finished under par for the fifth time in six events as well. Box (No. 237), who helped the team finish seventh with the No. 109 Eagles placing ahead of No. 106 Utah Tech University and No. 88 Butler University, also finished ahead of two players ranked in the national top 200, including No. No. 152 Ryan Leach of West Virginia University, who tied for 17th, and No. 176 Davis McDowell of University of California San Diego, who tied for 26th.
The award for Box is the 45th earned by an EMU player since the start of the 1999-00 season and gives the program back-to-back seasons with at least three honorees for the first time since the 2008-09 (four) and 2009-10 (three) campaigns. Additionally, Box' three accolades tied him for the fourth-most in program history with Ty Celone and Zach Mason while the trio of Cam Burke, Graham Hill, and Christopher Ross each earned four in their careers to lead the way.
The event in Hawai'i was the final competition of the fall season for Box and the Eagles. Eastern returns to action Feb. 16-17, 2026, when it travels to Mobile, Ala., for the Hal Williams Collegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
