Eagles finished seventh as a team in their final event of the fall season

AIEA, Hawai'i (EMUEagles.com) – Charlie Box tied for sixth and Joshua Hess tied for 10th to help the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team to a seventh-place finish as the Eagles closed out their 2025 fall schedule at the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational in Aiea, Hawai'i, Nov. 5-6. As a team, the Eagles finished ahead of two teams ranked ahead of the latest Scoreboard/Clippd national rankings while the top two individuals for EMU followed suit by placing ahead of two players ranked in the national top 200.
 
In the team standings, the Eagles took seventh at 8-over 872 (289-289-294) with No. 31 West Virginia University winning the team title at 21-under 843 (291-280-272) and No. 97 University of California San Diego took second at 10-under 854 (290-282-282). Eastern, who entered the tournament ranked No. 109 on the national ledger, finished ahead of No. 106 Utah Tech University (293-295-291) and No. 88 Butler University (292-298-290), who were 10th at 15-over 879 and 11th at 16-over 880, respectively.
 
Box (Leicester, England/Wreake Valley Academy/Hutchinson CC) tied for sixth at 6-under 210 (70-67-73) as he posted his fourth top 10 finish of the season and third consecutive after tying for seventh at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate (Sept. 28-29) before winning the West Bay Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 6-7). Box, who posted two rounds of par or better for the fifth time in six tournaments, finished under par for the fifth time in six events as well.
 
Hess (Schattdorf, Switzerland/Montverde Academy (Fla.)) also had a strong finish to his first collegiate fall schedule as the rookie tied for 10th at 2-under 214 (70-73-71) to post his first top 10 finish of the season, surpassing his tie for 19th at the Highlands Invitational (Sept. 15-16). Additionally, he has scored 214 strokes in three events this season with the score recorded in back-to-back events. Overall, both Hess and Box finished ahead of two players ranked in the national top 200, including No. No. 152 Ryan Leach of WVU, who tied for 17th, and No. 176 Davis McDowell of UCSD, who tied for 26th.
 
Five other Eagles also competed in the tournament, including Leo Mihaich (), who made his season and NCAA Division I debut. Competing as an individual, Mihaich tied for 41st at 5-over 221 (76-73-72) and represented EMU for the first time after playing for NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian University the past two season.
 
Mihaich was followed by Robby Turnbull (Auckland, New Zealand/Selwyn College), who tied for 58th at 7-over 223 (75-75-73); individual entrant Carlos Fernández Mortera (Gijon, Spain/Colegio La Corolla/Charleston (WV)), who tied for 66th at 9-over 225 (72-77-76); Tim Chan (Hong Kong, China/Loretto School/VCU), who tied for 72nd at 10-over 226 (75-74-77); and Rory McDonald-O'Brien (Shrewsbury, England/Shrewsbury School/USC-Aiken), who tied for 79th at 11-over 227 (74-76-77).

The fall season has ended for the Eagles. Eastern returns to action Feb. 16-17, 2026, when it ventures to Mobile, Ala., for the Hall Williams Invitational, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
