ATHENS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University soccer team (4-10-2, 3-5 MAC) fell to Ohio University (9-6-1, 4-3-1 MAC) 1-0, at Chessa Field Oct. 20.
Junior Chelsea Abbotts (Ottawa, Ontario-Mother Theresa) recorded seven saves on eight shots on goal in her second career start.
The Eagles and Bobcats played a competitive first 45 minutes. While Ohio more than doubled Eastern's shot production in the first half, 10-to-four, the two sides went in to the break scoreless.
Redshirt junior Nicole Remedios (Ajax, Ontario-Archbishop Dennis O'Connor) put both her shots on frame, while redshirt senior Kristin Hullibarger (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson) and junior Alia Frederick (Linden, Mich.-Linden) each put one shot on goal.
After the break, junior Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore, Mich.-Anchor Bay) fired off a shot the first five minutes to give Eastern a shot at the lead. However, the Bobcats' keeper made the save to keep the game scoreless.
The game remained scoreless until the 76th minute, when the Bobcats found the back of the net for the game-winner, 1-0.
Of the eight shots taken by the Eagles on the afternoon, six were on target. The Bobcats out-shot the Green and White 18-to-eight, while also earning more corners, nine-to-five.
