BOUNCE BACK OPPORTUNITY: Eastern Michigan enters Sunday looking to end a two-match skid that has followed the program's best unbeaten run in recent memory. The Eagles went 9-0-0 over a nine-game stretch before back-to-back 3-1 home losses to Miami and Western Michigan. Despite the recent setbacks, Eastern remains in a strong position in the MAC standings with three conference matches remaining — at Ohio, home against Toledo, and at Akron — before the MAC Tournament opens Nov. 7 in Columbus, Ohio. The Green and White started conference play 4-0-1, the program's strongest MAC start since 1999, and still control their postseason fate heading into Athens.
SERIES HISTORY VS OHIO: Eastern Michigan is 0-2-1 against Ohio University over the last three seasons. The most recent meeting, Sept. 28, 2025, ended in a 1-1 draw at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, Mich. Josie Langhans scored her first career goal in the 75th minute, but Ohio's Iro Fakinou equalized with a penalty kick in the 86th minute. The last time the Eagles visited Athens, Ohio won 1-0 on Oct. 10, 2024. In the 2011–2025 window, Ohio leads the series 8-7-1. The programs have also met three times in the MAC Tournament, with Eastern Michigan holding a 2-1 edge in those postseason meetings.
MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS: Eastern Michigan had two players recognized by the MAC following the Oct. 1 win at Ball State and the Oct. 4 win over Kent State. Annalyse Bauer (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring game-winning goals in consecutive matches, while Rosalie Takacsy (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The awards were announced Tuesday, Oct. 6.
SIPSOCK SCORING STREAK: Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) scored her 20th career goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to Western Michigan, extending Eastern's active scoring streak to six consecutive matches. The Eagles have found the net in every contest since Sept. 20, a season-best run. Sipsock's goal, assisted by Cameryn Susey, was the lone bright spot in a difficult evening at Scicluna Field. Goalkeeper Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) has been a constant presence in net throughout the stretch, reaching 4,320 consecutive minutes played and 50 consecutive starts — both school records. Holland has also accumulated 297 career saves and 22 career shutouts, ranking third in program history in the latter category.
