EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team raced nine harriers at the Spartan Invitational Friday, Sept. 15 in East Lansing, Mich.
Senior Tom Jozwiak (Southgate, Mich.-Thomas J. Anderson) paced the Eagles with a 58th-place finish, crossing the line in 26:46.0. The event served as another platform for many of the underclassmen to gain more experience, as seven of the nine runners were freshmen.
"Another good learning experience for the young guys and a solid result for senior middle distance runner Tom Jozwiak, who led us," said Head Coach John Goodridge. "Once again I am pleased with our team effort."
Freshmen Zachary Young (Marion, Ill.-Marion), Phoenix Myers (Wattsburg, Pa.-Seneca), and Rhys Grealish (Indianapolis, Ind.-Avon), as well as senior Caleb Hess (Owosso, Mich.-Owosso) also put together strong performances, each finishing in the top-150 of the 300+ pool of student-athletes.
EMU will have a break next week, before returning to action at the Note Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., Friday, Sept. 29. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:40 a.m.
