Kian Wiles Earns Back-to-Back MAC Runner of the Week

Wiles is the first Eagle to earn the honor twice in a season since 2022
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University cross country student-athlete Kian Wiles was named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second week in a row, the conference office announced Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) led the Eastern men at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University, Sept. 11, as he finished 10th overall in a strong field, running the 8k in 24:46.3.
Wiles also earned the honor during the previous week of competition, as he won the men's 5K outright at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, hosted by Central Michigan University at Shepherd High School Friday, Sept. 4, running a personal best time of 14:56.2. The victory was Wiles' first of his collegiate cross country career, after earning Second Team All-MAC in the 2025 season, finishing eighth at the MAC Cross Country Championships.
The last time an Eagle earned MAC Runner of the Week honors twice in one season was in 2022, as Baldvin Magnusson garnered the accolade Sept. 7, and Oct. 19.
