COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A select group from members of the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will travel to Buckeye State this weekend, Feb.13-14, to compete in the Ohio State Invitational. The two-day event will pit the Eagles against a slew of teams, including Miami and Buffalo.
FLOCK READIES FOR OSU INVITE: While a majority of the Eagles remain in Ypsilanti to continue training for the Mid-American Conference Championships, a group of 11 Eagles will travel south to compete in the Ohio State Invitational. The group includes Hunter Cook, Chris Buzard, Conner Finnigan, Miles MacDonald, Dylan Crompton, Ryan Current, Lance Bergmann, Josh Kreider, Max Wilkinson, Kevin Moore, and Bryce Durling.
TOTAL TEAM EFFORT LEADS EMU TO VICTORY: A balanced effort by the Green and White led the team to its 70th consecutive Mid-American Conference dual win, Feb. 6., as Eastern topped Miami, 184-109. Four different Eagles recorded a pair of inidividual wins to lead the Eagles. Junior Cole Bateman swept the Backstroke events while fellow junior Kyle Aerne claimed the win in both the 100 and 200 Breastroke. Senior Andrew Henry continued his dominance in the 100 Freestyle, winning it for the seventh consecutive time this season before adding another win in the 200 Free. Junior Kyle Lichtenberg was the final Eagle with two first-place finishes to his name, as the distance specialist bested the field in both the 500 and 1000 Free.
KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE: With a 184-109 win over the Miami RedHawks, the Eagles moved their Mid-American Conference dual streak to 70 consecutive wins. The Green and White's next clash with a conference opponent in dual action will not come until the 2016-17 season.
ON THE HORIZON: After a select contigent takes part in the Ohio State Invitational this weekend, the Eagles will spend a few weeks resting up for the Mid-American Conference Championships. The Green and White are slated to host the conference meet, March 2-5, in Jones Natatorium.
