YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team remains at home for its second consecutive game at "The Factory" this time squaring off with Army West Point Saturday, Sept. 26.  The game is the "Washtenaw 100" game, honoring the 40-year old organization of Washtenaw County area business and government leaders whose mission is to support the families of active police officers and fire fighters who serve within the county.
The Eagles are 1-2 (0-1 MAC) on the season following a tough 28-17 loss to Mid-American Conference foe Ball State University, Sept. 19.  On the other side, Army sits at 0-3 on the season following a 20-17 setback at the hands of Wake Forest University.
The contest will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Michael Reghi on the call with Dustin Fox providing analysis. WEMU (89.1 FM) will provide audio coverage of the game with Matt Shepard and Rob Rubick calling the action on the field.

ALL-TIME VERSUS ARMY: Eastern Michigan holds a 1-5 mark against Army West Point.  They last met in 2013, with Army coming away victorious at home, 50-25. EMU's lone win versus this week's opponent came, Oct. 20, 2012, at Rynearson Stadium, when the Eagles came away with 48-38 victory.

SPECIAL UNIFORMS:  The Eagles will suit up for Saturday's game in red, white, and blue in honor of military appreciation. The gray top features the American flag with the stars sitting on the right shoulder and the stripes draped over the left. A block 'E' outlined in green and filled with white sits above the numbers on the front of the jersey. Paired with white pants and a gray matted helmet featuring an American flag block 'E,' the patriotic uniforms will be worn by the Eagles in the Washtenaw 100 Game. The hero style jerseys will be auctioned off following the game.

TOUCHDOWN JACKSON: Senior running back Darius Jackson scored two more touchdowns against Ball State, Sept. 19.  He has now scored two touchdowns in each of the first three games, and has totaled 36 points on the season. That is good for first in the MAC and 13th in the nation.  Jackson was just three yards short of his second 100-yard rushing game of the season against Ball State, and one of his touchdowns came on a career-long 63-yard rush.

FINDING PAY DIRT: Senior Darius Jackson joined some elite company as he became the first EMU player since Bronson Hill to score a touchdown in three consecutive contests. Hill did so in the 2012 campaign when he found the endzone against Kent State, Oct. 6, Toledo, Oct. 13 and Army, Oct. 20.
The Sparta, Ill. native has a chance to become the first Eagle since Anthony Sherrell to notch a touchdown in five straight contests. Sherrell did so during the 2004 season a year after he established the program's all-time single-season rushing record with 1,531 yards.

IKIE SHUFFLE: Junior defensive back Ikie Calderon recorded 17 total tackles against Ball State, Sept. 19.  The safety did not start, but entered the game in the first quarter as a defensive replacement.  The 17 stops are the most by an Eagle this season. Anthony Zappone previously had the most with 11 versus Old Dominion, Sept. 5. It was the first double-digit tackling effort of Calderon's EMU career.

FINDING SOME OFFENSE: For someone to say the Eagles' offense has improved would be a major understatement. The Eagles have piled up 99 points and 1,269 total yards in the team's first three contests in 2015. In the first year under offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer's system the offense surpassed the 1,100-yard plateau in the fifth game of the year while collecting its 90th point in game number six.

THIRD DOWN SUCCESS: The Eagles have found ways this season to set themselves up for success on third down, converting 49 percent (21-of-43). Nationally, EMU ranks 13th in third down conversion percentage and second in the Mid-American Conference.
In 2014, EMU finished at just 36 percent (63-for-177) with 84 of those attempts occurring with six-or-more yards needed for a first down.

DOUBLE DIGIT LEADS: Despite the 1-2 record, EMU has actually held double-digit leads in each of its first three contests. The Eagles built a 14-0 edge in the first quarter against Old Dominion, Sept. 5, before the Monarchs surged late to win 38-34. At Wyoming, Sept. 12, Eastern Michigan had a lead as large as 31 points in the first half en route to the victory. Most recently, EMU was up 17-0 on Ball State, Sept. 19, before the Cardinals rolled off 28 unanswered points in the come-from-behind victory.

COACH TO CURE MD: The EMU coaching staff will be wearing Coach to Cure MD patches this week vs. Army, Sept. 26, to raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. Fans are encouraged to donate online at www.CoachtoCureMD.org or donate $5 by texting CURE to 90999. Celebrating its eighth year, the Coach to Cure MD program's goal is to raise money and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is the most common fatal genetic disorder among boys worldwide.

LAST TIME WE MET: Closing out the non-conference portion of the 2013 season, the Eastern Michigan football team dropped a 50-25 decision to the Army Black Knights, Oct. 12, at Michie Stadium. The Eagles held the early edge, but the Army  ground attack proved to be too much for the Green and White.  Army out-gained EMU, 551-417, due in large part to 513 yards on the ground. Junior running back Terry Baggett had a career day, rushing for an Army record 304 yards on 18 carries, including four touchdowns. Baggett shattered the previous mark of 269 yards by Mike Wallace who accomplished the feat against Louisville in 1999.

LSU ON THE HORIZON: Eastern Michigan will square off against the Tigers of LSU in next Saturday's contest in Baton Rouge, La.  This will be the first matchup between the two schools.  Eastern has never defeated an member institution of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in program history.
The trip to Louisiana will be the 10th venture into the state of Louisiana for the Eastern Michigan football team. EMU made its first trip to the Pelican State, Nov. 4, 1967, which resulted in a 12-10 loss to Northeast Louisiana (now know as Louisiana-Monroe). The last time the Eagles flew to bayou was during the 2006 season when the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette spoiled the day with a 33-14 win over EMU, Sept. 30.
