Complete Notes

EMU Preps for MACtion: Following a non-conference win over UIC, Feb. 15, the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team preps for two Mid-American Conference weekend duals. The Eagles (8-1, 2-1 MAC) first travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on the Broncos of Western Michigan University Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. The Green and White will then return to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center where it hopes to post a perfect 5-0 record, while honoring five seniors, when EMU goes up against the Cardinals of Ball State University. Meet time against the Cardinals is slated for 1 p.m. with the senior day celebration immediately following.

Eagles Post Two Performances in EMU Top-10 Laurels: The Green and White gymnastics team had an impressive day against the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames Sunday, Feb. 15, when three gymnasts etched their names into the EMU record book. First, on the beam, sophomore Natalie Gervais found her spot in the record book with a career-high 9.850, which ties for ninth overall in Green and White gymnastics history. To close out the afternoon, redshirt-senior Chantelle Loehner shone once again on the floor, earning a career-best 9.900 that tied for sixth overall in the Eagle record book and earned the Cary, Ill. native her fourth floor title of the 2015 season.

Topping Each Performance: The Eagles seem to earn a season-best score each time they step on the floor this season and Sunday's dual against UIC was no different. The Green and White earned two season-best team performances, while seven gymnasts nabbed career-high days. EMU's two final rotations of the day went down as season highs as Eastern earned a 48.900 on the beam and a 49.075 on the floor.
In addition to the team-bests, Carinna Lo Bello earned a career-high 9.800 on the vault. Fans also saw three career days on the beam when sophomore Natalie Gervais scored a 9.850 for a first-place finish, Lacey Rubin place second with her career-best 9.852, and Catie Conrad capped off the event with a career-high 9.750. Finally, Chantelle Loehner notched her fourth floor title of the season with a 9.900 and Rachel Slocum earned a 9.850 for her routine, followed by a career-best 9.725 from Taylor Young in her first scored routine as an Eagle.

Senior Spotlights: Sunday's meet with the Cardinals of Ball State University will mark the final home dual for five EMU senior gymnasts. During their tenure at Eastern Michigan, the team has posted 28 overall wins. This season, the Green and White's seniors have helped the team to its highest score in 11 years, tallying then-season highs in every rotation when the Eagles defeated Bowling Green State University, 195.250-192.425, Jan. 24. Below are the snap shots of the five seniors' careers at EMU:

-- Carrina Lo Bello: Competing on mostly the uneven bars and beam for the majority of her career, Lo Bello has become a leader in her senior season, entering all four events for the Green and White. Most recently, the Oshawa, Ontario native scored a career-best 9.800 on the vault for a second-place finish when EMU took on UIC, Feb. 15, while earning a career-best 9.825 on the bars at the Michigan/Illinois Challenge, Jan. 31, 2015. Lo Bello has continued to see success on the beam, notching a career-high 9.775 on the beam in the 2014 season against Western Michigan, while garnering a season-best and career-best 9.775 on the floor against Bowling Green, Jan. 24.

-- Chantelle Loehner: The floor specialist has made a name for herself in EMU history during the 2015 season, tying for sixth overall in the Eagle laurels after notching a 9.900 in the event against UIC, Feb. 15. This season, the Cary, Ill. native has captured four floor titles including the first-place finish in each of the Green and White's last two duals. In her career, Loehner has participated in 14 meets for Eastern, competing on both the vault and bars in her freshman season.

-- Paulina Miller: Competing on both the vault and floor, Miller has been a staple in the Green and White's lineup during the 2015 season. The Halifax, Nova Scotia native vaulted a season-best 9.725 against Bowling Green, Jan. 24, and a season-high 9.775 on the bars, Jan. 17, at Central Michigan. Miller's best season came during the 2014 campaign when she was named one-of-two captains and earned career-highs in both the vault and on the floor. The then-junior snagged a career-best 9.750 on the vault at the Eagle Invite, March 8, 2014, and a career-high 9.850 on the floor at the Michigan/Illinois Invite, Feb. 1, 2014.

-- Nikki Paterson: Paterson highlights the Eagles' uneven bars routine, having competed in every meet this season on the apparatus. The Oakville, Ontario native competed in every meet during the 2014 season for the Green and White on the bars and recorded three floor routines. This season, Paterson notched a career-best 9.775 when the Eagles defeated Kent State at the Convocation Center, Feb. 7.
