AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Behind an incredible overall team performance, the Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team repeated as Mid-American Conference Champions at the 2015 MAC Championships, Saturday, Oct. 31. The Eagles claimed five spots within the top-10, as junior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich.-Mason) was crowned the individual MAC Champion, marking the 16th time that an EMU harrier has claimed the title. With this conference title, the Green and White have claimed six in a row, breaking their previous school record of five. With the women winning the MAC Championship as well, the Eagles are the first to have both the men and women claim cross country titles in the same season since Bowling Green accomplished the feat in 1995.

Raymond paced the team, as he was the first to cross the finish line in 24:10.28, shaving 19 seconds off of his performance at last year's conference championships. With the first place finish, Raymond became the 11th individual champion coached by Head Coach John Goodridge. Senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee), last year's individual champion, was right behind him in second with a time of 24:15.92. Sophomore Lahsene Bouchikhi (Antwerp, Belgium-Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt Luchthaven) was the next Eagle to cross the finish line, as he placed sixth in 24:34.78. Eighth and ninth place were claimed by sophomore Csaba Matko (Racalmas, Hungary-Szechenyi Istvan Gimnazium) and redshirt sophomore Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland-Mountain Ridge), who posted times of 24:38.12 and 24:46.27, respectively, in their MAC Championship debuts.

Redshirt sophomore Abel Flores (Defiance, Ohio-Defiance), who has been a workhorse for the Eagles this season, took 12th and crossed the finish line in 25:03.87, while fellow redshirt sophomore Mitch Lenneman (River Falls, Wis.-RIver Falls) was right on his heels, claiming 13th in 25:04.68. The final two Eagle finishers were junior John Knox (Gloversville, N.Y. - Gloversville) and redshirt senior Cameron Trinh (Oakland, Calif.-Skyline), who placed 19th and 41st in 25:29.19 and 26:03.20, respectively.

Collectively, the Eagles landed seven harries on the All-MAC teams, the most since Eastern Michigan won the MAC Championships in 2006 when seven Eagles finished in top-14. Raymond, Fink, and Bouchikhi earned first team honors, while Matko, Andresson, Flores, and Lenneman nabbed second team recognition.

Goodridge made history at the event, as he led his squad to their 20th conference title in program history, tying Miami's record of 20 MAC titles. Additionally, Goodridge nabbed his 11th conference title, increasing his own lead as the winningest coach in MAC history while also reeling in MAC Coach of the Year honors for the 10th time in his tenure. He was very pleased with how his team performed, stating that it was "a real nice effort supported by a large group of teammates and alums, which made for a very rewarding day and another chapter to our great tradition."

Following a weekend free of competition, the Eagles return to the course for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, Friday, Nov. 13, in Madison, Wis.
