YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
— After over a month off from their last competition, the Eastern Michigan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to Detroit, Mich. for a tangle with in-state rival Wayne State University Saturday, Jan. 17.

Each team has seen Wayne State just 11 times in dual action in the history of the two programs, but the Eagles and the Warriors have met many more times in local invitational meets such as the recent EMU Invitational, Dec. 5-6, 2014, in which both the EMU men and women were victorious in the home meet.

The men's squad holds a 10-1 all-time record, with the only loss coming from the first ever meet in program history when the then-Hurons were bested by the then-Tartars in a 47-34 decision in 1964.  The rivalry between the two women's squads is not as old, dating back to the 2001-02 campaign.  However, the women hold a perfect 11-0 record against the Warriors and maintain an average margin of victory of 60.8 points over the Detroit-based institution.  Wayne State came to Ypsilanti for its latest dual with EMU, as the men downed the Warriors 180-118 while the women claimed a 176-122 victory, Jan. 24, 2014.

The meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start time inside Matthaei Natatorium.
