Women's cross country will run in the George Dales Invitational
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — After taking nearly two weeks off following a runner-up finish at the Toledo Invitational, Aug. 29, the Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team is set to compete in the George Dales Invitational Friday, Sept. 12, hosted by Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan University. The meet will serve as a dual between the two programs, as Eastern comes into the contest as the victor of the past four annual races.
Last season, the Eagles compiled 18 points for the win, just three points shy of a perfect score. Victoria Voronko paced the team, winning the 6,000-meter run in 21:16.55. Anna Aldrich came in second, while returning harriers Amy Frauhammer, Marina Manjon-Rivadulla, and Rebecca Quaintance landed in the top-10.
This year, Voronko looks to lead the Eagles to another victory after winning the Toledo Invitational and picking up the first MAC Runner of the Week honor of the 2014 season, Sept. 4. Also looking to score for the Eagles will be freshman Jordann McDermitt and junior transfer Sofie Gallein. McDermitt finished runner-up in her first collegiate meet in Toledo, while Gallein was the third scorer for the Green and White.
