THREE RIVERS, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
—Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team continued its trend of winning the George Dales Invitational with a fifth consecutive victory over Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan University, Sept. 12.  The Green and White scored 22 points to top the Bronco's 37 points.

Grabbing seven of the top-10 spots, the Eagles were led once again by Victoria Voronko (Stavropol, Russia-School #42), who came out on top of the entire field in 20:56.  Voronko won by a margin of nearly 30 seconds to take first ahead of WMU's Maria McDaniel.  The next two harriers to cross the line donned the Green and White, paced by Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich.-Davison) in 21:29 for third while Sofie Gallein (Gits, Belgium-University of Leuven) took fourth in 21:59 to edge out Ann Marie Arseneau by one second.

Taylor Knoll (Warren, Mich.-Mott (Lansing CC)) and Amy Frauhammer (Saline, Mich.-Saline) cruised in for the last two scoring positions, with Knoll finishing sixth in 22:23 and Frauhammer taking eighth in 22:47.  The team landed two more harriers in the top-10; Anna Aldrich (Fremont, Ind.-Fremont) was directly behind Frauhammer in 22:59, while newcomer Lauren Pottschmidt (Granger, Ind.-Penn) crossed the line in 22:59 for 10th

The evening's race showed promise for Head Coach Sue Parks, as the ninth-year head coach remarked, "I thought we showed a lot of improvement over our first meet.  We are working on getting completely healthy, and that could make a big difference for us later on.  I'm happy with the progress that we have made over the last two weeks."

Two more weeks will be given to the team to further its improvement before the squad heads to the East Coast for the Battle in Beantown in Chestnut Hill, Mass.  The meet, hosted by Boston College, is slated for a 3 p.m. start time on Friday, Sept. 26.
