Eagles compete in Ann Arbor for second time
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming team will send eight swimmers to Canham Natatorium this weeked, Feb. 16 - 17, to compete in the University of Michigan's First Chance Meet.
Swimming for the Green and White will be freshmen Dylan Crompton, Brad Lebling, Blake Howe and Andrew Henry, sophomores Dan Proctor and Nate Schingoethe, junior Aaron Lawson, and senior backstroke specialist Tyler Capen.
Both days of competition will commence at 12:00 p.m. and have a second afternoon session. Saturday's afternoon session starting at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday's kicking off at 2:00 p.m.
The Eagles will face a tough field made up of No. 2 Michigan, Michigan State University, the University of Norte Dame, and familiar M.A.C. foe the University of Toledo.
Canham Natatorium should seem familiar to the athletes representing Eastern this weekend as all eight of them competed there earlier this year in Jan. 11's dual-meet with the then ranked No.1 Wolverines. Many of the returning Eagles will look to repeat their previous successes. During their Jan. 11 visit Lawson claimed second place in the 40 butterfly, and Howe, Capen, and Schingoethe took second, third and forth respectively in the 40 backstroke.
The First Chance Meet offers one last chance for swimmers looking to earn vital points needed to qualify for postseason action.
