The Eagles and Bulls will square off Saturday, Jan. 26
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will remain on the road this weekend as it heads to Buffalo, N.Y. Saturday, Jan. 26, to take on the University at Buffalo in a Mid-American Conferen dual-meet. Action inside Alumni Arena's pool and natatorium is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
The last time EMU and UB faced each other was during the 2010-11 campaign. Eastern topped the Bulls, 164-136, Jan. 22, 2011. The Green and White was led by Jacob Hanson who swept both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Hanson picked up his first win in the 100 back with his time of 49.30. In the 200, Hanson defeated 2009-10 MAC Champion, Matt Schwippert, when he completed the distance in 1:47.52. Hanson would later go on to lead EMU's podium sweep of the 400 IM, followed by teammates Michael Swain and Troy Esentan.
Eastern will be attempting to keep its streak of 61-consecutive MAC wins alive against UB. The remarkable streak extends back to the 1997-98 campaign, as the Eagles have not lost a MAC contest since falling to Toledo that season, 113-130. Since that loss, the Green and White has won 11 MAC Swimming and Diving Championships and crowned eight MAC Swimmer of the Year awards.
