EMU will travel to Muncie, Ind. Saturday, Jan. 19

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will remain on the road this weekend as it heads to Muncie, Ind. Saturday, Jan. 19, to take on Ball State University in a Mid-American Conferen dual-meet. Action inside Lewellen Aquatic Center is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The last time EMU and BSU swam against each other was during the 2010-11 campaign. Eastern topped the Cardinals, 174-118, Oct. 30, 2010. Matt Zavislak led the Eagles with two first place finishes on the afternoon. He was first to touch the wall in the 200 freestyle at 1:44.78, and he was also the top finisher in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.21. Ricky Linder also faired well, winning the 1,000 freestyle posting a time of 9:47.70. Teammate Gilles Renard followed in second place at 10:01.81. Linder later took second in the 500 freestyle behind Dylan Kab's first-place effort of 4:46.87.

Eastern will be attempting to keep its streak of 60-consecutive MAC wins alive against BSU. The remarkable streak extends back to the 1997-98 campaign, as the Eagles have not lost a MAC contest since falling to Toledo that season, 113-130. Since that loss, the Green and White has won 11 MAC Swimming and Diving Championships and crowned eight MAC Swimmer of the Year awards.
