Women's Golf Eager to Compete in Johnie Imes Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - After an impressive third-place finish at the Wolverine Invitational, the Eastern Michigan women's golf team will head to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Sixth Annual Johnie Imes Invitational, Oct. 1-2, at the par 72, 6,234-yard Club at Old Hawthorne.
The tournament, which is named for longtime Missouri supporter Johnie Imes who passed Jan. 4, 2011, will consist of 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., each day.
EMU will be joined by 18 teams at the Johnie Imes Invitational, including Missouri, Redlands Community College, Oklahoma City University, Montana, Missouri State, Indiana, Florida International, Kansas State, Colorado State, Louisville, UALR, Mississippi State, Southern Methodist, UMKC, Bradley, Illinois State, Wichita State and Iowa.
The Eagles have never previously competed in the Johnie Imes Invitational. Last season, Texas State won the tournament with a three-round total of 879 (294-291-294)
