– With two games in the books for the 2012 season, the Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team readies to complete a three-game homestand Sunday, Aug. 26, when it hosts Butler University at Scicluna Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Eastern Michigan is coming off an opening weekend in which it went 0-1-1 with a 2-1 season-opening loss to the University of Pittsburgh and a 3-3 tie against Oakland University.

THE BULL STOPS HERE: The Eagles and Bulldogs will face off for the third time Sunday and the second time in the last two seasons. Butler owns a 1-0-1 series advantage and took last year's match, 2-1, on its own turf. This year, the Eagles will have a chance to turn the tables on their Atlantic 10 Conference opponent at home. Emily Dzik was the goal scorer for EMU in last season's matchup.

EAGLES MOUNT COMEBACK AGAINST GRIZZLIES: The Green and White overcame a two-goal deficit to earn a 3-3 draw against Oakland Sunday afternoon, Aug. 19, at Scicluna Field. Bianca Rossi scored a pair of goals including the game-tying tally, and Angela Vultaggio chipped in with her second of the year.
The Eagles snapped an eight-match losing skid to Golden Grizzlies dating back to the 1998 campaign. EMU trailed, 3-1, after OU scored three straight first-half goals in a 13-minute span, but Rossi netted back-to-back goals in the 43rd and 54th minutes to pull the home team even.

Senior Jessica Thomas turned in a solid effort on defense and recorded two assists on the afternoon. Juniors Cara Cutaia and Stephanie Clarke were also credited with assists, while Vultaggio chipped in with one helper as well.

VULTAGGIO, ROSSI COMBINE AGAINST PITT: Despite dropping the season opener against Pitt, the Eagles' offense struck for an early lead when Bianca Rossi fed a pass to fellow sophomore Angela Vultaggio in the seventh minute. Vultaggio's goal was the seventh of her young career and fifth in her last seven games dating back to last season. Rossi's assist gives her 10 career points.

TWICE AS NICE: Bianca Rossi's two-goal performance against Oakland was the second of her young career, with the other occurrence on Oct. 21, 2011, in a 5-1 win against Ball State University.

The EMU record for most goals in a single game is three, and was accomplished four times–most recently by Carissa Wilson against Loyloa, Sept. 13, 2009.

O'DELL SHARP IN FIRST GAMES AT EMU: Goaltender Jenna O'Dell stopped 11-of-13 Pittsburgh shots on goal in Friday's season opener and 8-of-11 against Oakland on Sunday. The redshirt freshman donned the Green and White for the first time after transferring from Iowa State University. O'Dell came up with several key saves against the Golden Grizzlies to help her team earn its first draw of the 2012 campaign.

THE FACILITATOR: With an assist Sunday against Oakland, junior Stephanie Clarke moved into second place on the EMU all-time list for assists per game at a 0.24 clip. Clarke has 10 career assists and 20 points over 41 games played. In 2012, the London, Ontario native scored four goals and added six helpers for 14 points.

Stephanie Janssens leads the way in the assists-per-game category with a 0.28 average over  81 contests from 2007-10.

OVER THE LINE: In the 61st minute of Sunday's match with Oakland, sophomore Martha Stevens appeared to have her first-career goal to put the Eagles in the lead, but the play was just offside and the match remained deadlocked. After seeing the field just three times all of last season, Stevens has been called upon by Head Coach Scott Hall in both games in 2012 and has contributed to the EMU offensive attack.

DEAKIN MAKES HER DEBUT: Freshman Sarah Deakin made her collegiate debut Friday evening against Pittsburgh. The Arva, Ontario native posted two shots on the weekend including one which narrowly missed the left goalpost in the game against the Panthers.

BIG TEXAS: Following Sunday's home game against Butler, the Eagles will hop on a plane to San Antonio, Texas for their first road trip of the year. EMU will visit UTSA Friday, Aug. 31, before playing a neutral-site game against Lamar University Sunday, Sept. 2, in San Antonio. The matchups will mark the first meetings between the Eagles and these two opponents.

FAST FACT: Jessica Hupe (2000-04) holds the record for most goals in a season with 17 tallies in 2002 as well as the most in a career with 49.
