- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team opens their home season, Jan. 27, hosting Central Michigan University and Texas Woman's University. The meet will be held in Bowen Field House at 7 p.m. The young Eagles will look to capture their first win.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles came up short last meet, falling to Kent State University, 194.150-191.050. Sophomore Shawna Ciaramella (Hamilton, Ont.-St. Mary's) finished first on the beam, scoring a career high 9.775. She also posted a career high on the floor exercise recording a 9.725. Freshman Anna Willette (Pylesville, Md.-North Harford) and junior Kristina Kurkmilis (Eagleville, Pa.-Methacton) tied for fourth on the vault posting a 9.750, while sophomore Miranda Jarvis (Westminster, Md.-Westminster) followed with a career high 9.700.

CAREER HIGHS: Three Eagles recorded career high scores this past weekend in Kent, Ohio. Shawna Ciaramella (Hamilton, Ont.-St. Mary's) tallied a pair of records with a 9.775 on the balance beam and a 9.725 on the floor exercise. Miranda Jarvis (Westminster, Md.-Westminster) beat her career high, posting a 9.700 on the vault. Amanda Fuller (Hamilton, Ont.-St. Mary's) posted the best performance of her career on the floor exercise earning a 9.65.

UP NEXT: Following the CMU Quad, the Eagles host the Michigan/Illinois Challenge Friday, Feb. 3. The meet will feature Central Michigan University, Illinois State University and the University of Illinois-Chicago. Last season the Eagles came in fourth at the event, posting a team score of 188.975. Despite EMU finishing in last, the state of Michigan finished on top with CMU and EMU earning a 382.350 over a 382.000 recorded by Illinois State and UIC. Kristina Kurkmilis (Eagleville, Pa.-Methacton) had a good showing for the Eagles, finishing eighth on the vault with a 9.650. Grace Crouch (Bellbrook, Ohio-Bellbrook) and Shawna Ciaramella (Hamilton, Ont.-St. Mary's) both performed well on the beam, recording scores of 9.525 and 9.550, respectively. Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) had a standout performance ,finishing ninth on the vault recording a 9.650, and eighth on the balance beam with a 9.550. She also recorded a 9.375 on the floor exercise. Brittany Cassar (Kings Park, N.Y.-Kings Park) followed right behind Viltz finishing in 10th on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.600 and 11th on the floor with a 9.650. The Kings Park native also earned a 9.475 on the beam for the Green and White.
