EASTERN MICHIGAN LOOKS TO GET BACK ON TRACK AT BALL STATE: The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing skid Wednesday evening, Feb. 16, versus Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. The Mid-American Conference West Division tilt is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. inside John E. Worthen Arena.
Eastern Michigan enters the game with a 16-9 (7-4 MAC) record, following a 60-55 setback to MAC East Division leader Bowling Green, Feb. 12, at the Convocation Center. The Cardinals are 9-15 (4-7 MAC) and carry a four-game losing skid following a 78-65 loss at Akron, Feb. 12.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Feb. 16 contest marks the 62nd meeting between the Cardinals and Eagles, who first played during the 1979-80 season. Eastern Michigan leads the series, 34-27, including winning the last three meetings.
Eastern Michigan took the earlier meeting this year between the two squads, 70-62, at the Convocation Center, Jan. 8. Tavelyn James led the Eagle attack with 25 points and Kristin Thomas tied a career-high in blocks with four. Dominant under the basket, the Eagles scored 52 points in the paint and went 28-of-59 (47.5 percent) from the field. Additionally, EMU converted 27 Cardinal turnovers into 32 points.

FINDING THE GAME ON YOUR RADIO DIAL: With the EMU men's basketball team on the road for a 7:30 p.m. game at Central Michigan University Wednesday night, the women's contest will only be broadcast on Eagle All-Access rather than WEMU (89.1 FM). Ryan Wooley will have the call beginning at 6:50 p.m. from Muncie, Ind. As always, on demand replays of most EMU basketball games are available to subscribers at EMUEagles.com/showcase.

ON THE HORIZON: The Feb. 19 contest marks the 35th meeting between the Northern Illinois Huskies and Eastern Michigan Eagles, who first played during the 1981-82 season. Eastern leads the overall series, 25-9, and has won 20 of the last 23 games over the Cardinal and Black. Head Coach AnnMarie Gilbert has tallied a 6-1 mark against NIU since taking over the program in 2007-08.

GET THAT SHOT OUTTA HERE: Junior forward Paige Redditt recorded a pair of blocked shots Saturday, Feb. 12, in the setback to Bowling Green. She upped her career total to 76 and currently stands in third place on the EMU all-time list, passing Melis Ulker's (2002-06) 74 rejections. Redditt needs 27 more rejections to pass Stephanie Smiley for second all-time. Smiley tallied 103 rejections for Eastern from 1998-2002.

MAY I HELP YOU?: Call them a team of givers or a group of unselfish players, either way, Eastern Michigan ranks seventh in the MAC in assists, dishing out 334 helpers—that's an average of 13.4 apg—this season.

DOUBLE VISION: In just 85 games during her brief career, junior Tavelyn James has reached double figures in points on 68 occasions. The Detroit native has scored 20 or more in 31 of those contests for a total of 1,494 points. Given her current pace of 17.6 points per game, James is on pace to become the leading scorer in the program's 35-year history.
Senior Cassie Schrock has also been a lock to reach double digits in points, posting 10-or-more points in 59 of her 114 career contests.

HUNTLEY LIGHTS UP BGSU: Despite battling foul trouble, senior Sydney Huntley provided a spark for the Eagles in the 60-55 setback to Bowling Green, Feb. 12, at the Convocation Center. The Cincinnati, Ohio native led the way with 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting in 37 minutes of work. She also chipped in four assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block against the MAC East-leaders.

FIRST LEAD: For the first time in nearly three years, Eastern Michigan had a lead in a game versus the Falcons of Bowling Green. However, BGSU would rally in the second half to capture the 60-55 victory, Feb. 12, and down EMU for the eighth consecutive time. Prior to EMU's 4-3 advantage with 16:18 to play in the first half, the Eagles had not led for a second of game action against the Falcons since a Feb. 16, 2008, contest at Anderson Arena in Bowling Green, Ohio.

CRASHING THE BOARDS: Senior Kristin Thomas has established herself as a formidable rebounder. Thomas has at least six caroms in 14 of her 25 games this season, and she already has four double-figure rebounding performances (10 at UMKC, 10 vs. Detroit, 10 vs. UIC, 12 at Northern Illinois). Seventy-five of her 148 total rebounds have come on the offensive glass, including a season-high eight against the Titans.

THREE-BALLS, TRIPLES OR TRI-LIGHTERS: No matter what you call it, the three-point shot has proved to be either a hindrance or a help to the Eagles in 2010-11. Eastern Michigan has notched a 10-2 record when it connects on five-or-more threes in a contest, and conversely just 6-7 when it does not. When the three pointers are falling the offense is clicking to the tune of 72.3 points per game and a 34.7 percent (85-of-245) clip. However, when struggling from long range Eastern is only averaging 62.9 points per contest and a dismal 19.3 percent (34-of-176) from the long line.
