MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) — Behind a near triple-double by senior Cassie Schrock, the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team rolled to an 81-73 victory over Ball State University Wednesday night, Feb. 16, at Worthen Arena. After trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, the Eagles used a 23-7 run that started midway through the opening period to propel the Green and White to the hard-fought victory.

Schrock turned in the best game of her career, collecting a personal-best 38 points to go along with eight rebounds and nine assists. Junior forward Paige Redditt notched a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, as the Eagles limited the Cardinals to a just 28 points in the second half.

The victory extends the Eagles' winning streak to four straight over the Cardinals, and pushes EMU's record to 17-9 overall and 8-4 in Mid-American Conference action. Meanwhile, BSU drops to 9-16 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

Ty'Ronda Benning poured in a game-high 14 points to lead the Cardinals, connecting on four three-pointers. Ebony Jackson led three other BSU players in double figures with 13 points.

After trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, the Eagles roared back in the second half to take a 48-47 lead with 15:57 to play in the contest on a Tavelyn James layup. The runner-in-the-lane capped a 25-9 run by the Eagles over an 8:44 stretch.

After a stellar opening period shooting the rock, Ball State missed six of its first seven shots of the stanza, as Kristen Thomas pushed the margin to three, 50-47, with a pair of free throws at the 15:02 mark. Ball State would go more than nine minutes before finally getting its second field goal of the stanza to drop.

A Schrock layup with 9:05 left gave Eastern Michigan its biggest advantage of the contest at seven points, 61-54, forcing BSU to burn a quick timeout.

The homestanding Cardinals would chip away to make it 63-59, but James promptly hit a long-range dagger to push the margin back to seven points with 5:49 to go. However, the Eagles' defense would again be up for the challenge, as the Cardinals would get no closer than six points the rest of the game.

The contest opened with both sides shooting a high-percentage from the field, as Ball State pulled in front early, 11-7, thanks to a 6-0 spurt with 15:47 showing on the clock. The lead continued to grow for BSU, with Suzanne Grossnickle and Benning combining for nine of the team's first 15 points. Schrock ended the Eagles' extended field goal drought with a three-point play with 7:44 left in the first half, but Ball State answered with nine consecutive points to up the margin to 15 points, 38-23.
