EASTERN MICHIGAN LOOKS TO GET BACK ON TRACK AT WESTERN MICHIGAN: The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing skid Wednesday evening, Jan. 19, versus Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Mid-American Conference West Division tilt is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. inside University Arena.
Eastern Michigan enters the game with an 11-7 (2-2 MAC) record, following a 72-56 setback to MAC West Division co-leader Toledo, Jan. 15, at the Convocation Center. The Broncos are 5-12 (1-3 MAC) after snapping a three-game losing streak Saturday, Jan. 15, with a 71-67 victory at Northern Illinois.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Jan. 19 contest at University Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich. marks the 68th meeting between the Western Michigan Broncos and Eastern Michigan Eagles, who first played during the 1976-77 season. EMU leads the all-time series, 37-30, and has won nine of the last 11 meetings. Eastern has won four of the last five meetings in Kalamazoo dating back to the 2005-06 campaign.

FINDING THE GAME ON YOUR RADIO DIAL: With the EMU men's basketball team hosting Ball State University Wednesday night at the Convocation Center, the women's contest will only be broadcast on Eagle All-Access rather than WEMU (89.1 FM). Ryan Wooley will have the call beginning at 6:50 p.m. from University Arena. As always, on demand replays of most EMU basketball games are available to subscribers at EMUEagles.com/showcase.

NEEDING TO STOP THE RUNS: In the setbacks to Central Michigan, Jan. 12, and Toledo, Jan. 15, the Eagles squandered first half leads of 12 and nine points, respectively. Against CMU, Eastern held a 19-7 advantage with 14:27 to play in the opening stanza before the Chippewas rolled off a 13-0 run over the next 7:32 to take a 20-19 lead. Central Michigan would out-score EMU, 44-35, in the second half to seal the 76-67 decision. Versus Toledo, the Green and White again raced out to a quick 15-6 edge with 12:33 showing on the first half clock. However, the Rockets would score 19 of the next 22 points over a 8:29 span to take a lead they would never relinquish in a 72-56 victory.

THREE-BALLS, TRIPLES OR TRI-LIGHTERS: No matter what you call it, the three-point shot has proved to be either an hindrance or a help to the Eagles in 2010-11. Eastern Michigan has notched a 7-2 record when it connects on five-or-more threes in a contest, and conversely just 4-5 when it does not. When the three pointers are falling the offense is clicking to the tune of 74.8 points per game and a 35.3 percent (65-of-184) clip. However, when struggling from long range Eastern is only averaging 60.4 points per contest and a dismal 15.7 percent (20-of-127) from the long line.

THIS DATE IN EMU HISTORY: The game on Jan. 19 will mark the seventh time the Eagles will have played on that date, recording a 3-3 record all-time. The last occurrence came in 2008 when the Green and White downed Central Michigan University, 68-66, at the Rose Center in Mount Pleasant, Mich..

ON THE HORIZON: The Jan. 22 contest against the University of Akron marks the 29th meeting between the Zips and Eagles, who first met during the 1981-82 season. UA leads the series, 16-12, including sweeping a pair of contests last season. The Zips posted a 73-66 victory in Ypsilanti, Jan. 30, 2009, and again got the better of the Eagles in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinal Round, 72-46, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, March 10, 2009.

EAGLES VERSUS THE EAST DIVISION: The 2010-11 season is the sixth utilizing the current Mid-American Conference scheduling format for women's basketball. Each of the 12 schools opens league action with five divisional games, followed by six cross-divisional games and then five more divisional contests to close the regular season.
Eastern Michigan has posted a 25-21 record versus MAC East Division opponents since the 2004-05 campaign. Eastern finished 4-4 last season and was 2-5 in cross-divisional games in 2008-09, 4-3 in 2007-08, 4-4 in 2006-07, 6-2 in 2005-06 and 5-3 in 2004-05.

A LOOK BACK AT THE SIX-GAME WINNING STREAK: Between Dec. 11 and Jan. 8 the Eagles strung together six straight victories by an average of 24.0 points per game (EMU 75.5, OPP 51.5). Eastern managed a 40.4 field goal percentage, while going to the charity stripe 189 times compared to just 98 for the opposition. The Green and White also forced its opponents to turn the ball over an average of 26.3 times per game, while grabbing 16.5 steals per contest.

A LOOK INSIDE THE SPECIALTY STATS: The Eagles are averaging 32.7 points per game in the paint, 15.6 points off the bench, 24.2 points per game off turnovers, 14.0 second-chance points and 11.7 fast break points per game.
