EMU CLOSES OUT SIX-GAME STRETCH VERSUS THE EAST DIVISION: The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team turns its attention to the Mid-American Conference's East Division for the final time in the regular season Wednesday, Feb. 10, as the RedHawks of Miami University come to town. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
The Eagles enter the game with a mark of 17-5 (7-3 MAC), just a game behind the University of Toledo which sits atop the MAC West Division. Meanwhile, the RedHawks are 6-17 (4-6 MAC) after falling to Western Michigan University, 75-69, in Kalamazoo, Mich., Feb. 6.

A BULLSEYE ON MIAMI: Wednesday's contest marks the 48th meeting between the RedHawks and Eagles, who first met during the 1979-80 season. Miami has dominated the all-time series, 35-12, but the schools split last year's season series. The Eagles posted a 56-45 victory in Oxford, Ohio, Feb. 14, 2009, but the RedHawks got the better of the Eagles in the MAC Tournament First Round, 75-69, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, March 11, 2009.

WINNING WAYS: The Eagles are 17-5 overall, their .773 winning percentage is third in the Mid-American Conference and 36th best in the nation. EMU's 17 victories are tied for fifth most all time with the 2007-08 squad.
With a victory Wednesday, the team will equal the 2001-02 team for the fourth most victories in a season.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: Eastern Michigan is 9-1 at the Convocation Center this season. The Eagles have won 10 of the last 11 home games dating back to last year.

GILBERT GRABS CAREER WIN NUMBER 100: EMU Head Coach AnnMarie Gilbert picked up career victory No. 100 Saturday, Feb. 6, in a 78-72 victory over Kent State at the Convocation Center. Gilbert sports a 100-174 career record in 11 seasons, including a 42-38 mark in three seasons in Ypsilanti. She becomes the seventh active Mid-American Conference coach to reach 100 career victories.

A LOOK AT SINGLE-SEASON MILESTONES THAT ARE APPROACHING: With the season rapidly winding down the Eagles are approaching numerous single-season records.

APPROACHING 1,000: Two Eagles are closing in on 1,000 career points. Sophomore Tavelyn James has scored 905 points during her career. She is 18th all time and needs seven points to catch Donna Travis for 17th. Junior Cassie Schrock has scored 856 points in her career and is 20th all time. Currently, 14 players are in the 1,000-point club for EMU women's basketball.

A LOOK INSIDE THE SPECIALTY STATS: The Eagles are averaging 30.4 points per game in the paint, 24.8 points off the bench, 23.6 points per game off of turnovers, 14.0 second chance points and 12.3 fastbreak points per game.

IN THE NCAA RANKINGS: In the most recent NCAA Division I statistics rankings, junior Cassie Schrock cracks the list at 12th in assists per contest with 6.0 dimes while sophomore Tavelyn James is ninth nationally in points per game at 21.8. James is also 11th in three-point field goals per game. As a team, the Eagles rank eighth in steals with 12.2 swipes per contest.

JAMES SCORES IN BUNCHES VERSUS BUFFALO AND KENT STATE: Sophomore Tavelyn James had another prolific week scoring the basketball, averaging 29.5 points per game to go along with 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.5 assists and a 47.4 shooting clip from the field in pair of victories over Buffalo, Feb. 2, and Kent State, Feb. 6. From beyond the arch, the Detroit native was 7-of-18 for 38.9 percent. James set the single-game standard for points with 40 in the Eagles' 78-65 victory over the Bulls. She followed it up with a 19 points effort against the Golden Flashes.

FROM HERE WE GO TO MUNCIE: The Eagles will next be in action Saturday, Feb. 13, against Ball State University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind.

HUNTLEY ON FIRE OVER THE LAST FOUR GAMES: Junior guard Sydney Huntley has been on a blistering pace over the last four games with 18.5 points, 2.8 steals, 2.8 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 27.0 minutes per game. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is also shooting 51.0 percent from the field, including a 53.8 percent clip from three-point range.

JAMES ON PACE TO SET THE EMU RECORD FOR POINTS IN A SEASON: With her proficiency to score in bunches sophomore guard Tavelyn James is currently charting a course to set the EMU single-season record for points in a season. With an average of 21.8 points per game, the Detroit native is on pace to total 633 points this season and surpass Laurie Byrd's mark of 602 in 26 games during the 1981-82 season.
At her current pace, James' total would come up just short of the all-time mark among sophomores in Mid-American Conference history. Ohio's Caroline Mast holds down the league's current standard of 635 points during the 1983-84. EMU's record for most points by a sophomore is 507 by Kristy Maska in 1998-99.
