FOR THE 46TH TIME: The 2009-10 season marks the 46th season for men's swimming and diving at Eastern Michigan University. Throughout the years, EMU has won 28 Mid-American Conference Championships, four NAIA Championships and was the NCAA Division II National Champion in 1972. The Eagles have only had three head coaches during its history of building one of the most successful programs at EMU. Bill Lewis began the program in 1964 before giving way to Mike Jones in 1968. Peter Linn has been at the helm of EMU swimming and diving since the 1988 season, leading the Eagles to 18 of the past 21 MAC titles.

SEEKING NO. 29: The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team will be looking to win its 29th overall and fourth straight Mid-American Conference title this season. Last year, the Eagles registered a school record 1,046.5 points en route to the championship. EMU has won the past three titles and nine of the last 10. They lost nine seniors to graduation entering this season, but welcomed 12 freshmen and 13 newcomers to start the year.

ABOUT THE BUCKEYES: The Ohio State Buckeyes enter Friday's dual meet with the Eagles ranked ninth in the CSCAA Division I poll. Not to be confused with the Eagles' third-ranking in the Division I Mid-Major poll. OSU is coming off a quad meet last weekend in which they went 2-1 by defeating Northwestern and Penn State. The loss to No. 7 Michigan was the Buckeyes' first of the season, dropping them to 8-1 overall, 3-1 in the Big Ten.

LAST TIME OUT: Eastern Michigan wrapped up the Mid-American Conference schedule with a, 164-136, win over Miami on the road last Saturday, Jan. 30. With the win, the Eagles made it 53 consecutive MAC dual meet wins and finished the MAC schedule unbeaten for the 12th season in a row. Troy Esentan won two races and finished second in another while Jacob Hanson also turned in a pair of wins.

ESENTAN TABBED MAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: The sophomore was the third Eagle to be honored with the award and the second in as many weeks after notching victories in the 1,000-yard free and 500-yard free. In the 1,000, he touched the wall in 9:33.78, setting a season-best mark and resetting the fastest time in the MAC this season. Esentan also coasted to a win in the 500, his time of 4:39.11 was four seconds better than the next closest finisher. His time of 4:30.35 in the event is still the fastest time in the event for the MAC this year. He added a second place finish in the 400 IM as well, finishing less than 2.5 seconds behind teammate Jacob Hanson.

CENTURY MILESTONE: EMU head men's coach Peter Linn won his 100th career MAC dual meet after a victory over Ball State Saturday, Jan. 23. He added to that number with a win over Miami Jan. 30, which pushes his all-time conference record to an incredible 101-6 while also extending EMU's dual meet win streak over conference opponents to 53.
