BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team came up just a few points shy against a Bowling Green State University squad that has yet to drop a Mid-American Conference competition, as the Eagles came up short, 193.175-191.875, at Anderson Arena Sunday afternoon, Feb. 21.

EMU drops to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league action, while the Falcons improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the MAC.

True freshman Kaylyn Millick (Washington, Pa.-Trinity) had another outstanding performance for the Eagles, as her all-around mark of 38.700 was second overall in the competition, trailing only BGSU's Breanne Guy, who registered a 38.925. Millick carded a meet-best 9.775 on the balance beam, while also tallying a 9.700 on the uneven parallel bars, 9.625 in the floor exercise and a 9.600 on the vault.

Senior and reigning MAC Gymnast of the Week Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) finished fourth all-around with a 37.550, as she and teammate junior Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) tied for second overall with a 9.775 on the vault. Grigg also posted a 9.650 in the floor exercise, 9.075 on the balance beam and a 9.050 on the uneven parallel bars. Along with her impressive score on the vault, Viltz carded a 9.600 on the balance beam to finish sixth in the competition.

Sophomore Tracie Tamashiro (Honolulu, Hawaii-Kalani) tallied a stellar mark on the balance beam, as her 9.675 on the apparatus was good for third place behind Millick and Bowling Green's Guy.

Sophomore Kristen Yourick (Albuquerque, N.M.-La Cueva) notched a 9.600 on both the uneven parallel bars and floor exercise, while senior Samantha Golden (Denville, N.J.-Morris Knolls) scored a 9.625 in the floor exercise and a 9.475 on the vault.

True freshman Brittany Cassar (Kings Park, N.Y.-Kings Park) tallied a career-best 9.675 in the floor exercise for EMU, while also carded scores of 9.575 on the balance beam and 9.475 on uneven parallel bars.

EMU now sets its sight to the West Coast, as the team heads to Stanford, Calif. to compete in the Stanford Invitational, Feb. 28, against the Stanford Cardinal, University of California and University of North Carolina. The competition is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (PST).
