YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team closes out the exhibition portion of the schedule Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, against Northwood University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Green and White return 10 letterwinners and four starters from a 2009-10 squad that posted a 22-9 record en route to earning a berth in the Postseason WNIT. EMU became the first MAC women's basketball team to post a 20-win season following a year in which the team won less than 10 games. Junior guard Tavelyn James (Detroit, Mich.-Mumford) looks to pace the Eagles' offensive attack after leading the MAC in scoring at 20.7 points per game. Senior guard Cassie Schrock (Wadsworth,Ohio-Wadsworth) again looks to provide a major presence for the Green and White after finishing as the league's runner-up in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Eagles and Timberwolves are meeting on the hardwood for the first time.
Northwood was picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division in the Preseason Media Poll. In addition, senior forward Pam Wilson was named the Preseason GLIAC Player of the Year following a year where she finished fourth in the conference in scoring (16.5 ppg) and eighth in rebounding (6.3 rpg).
