BUSY WEEK FOR THE EAGLE SPIKERS: The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team will be hitting the court often this week with three matches in a five-day span. The Eagles will travel to Cleveland, Ohio, Sept. 29, for a non-conference tilt versus Cleveland State University before returning home for a pair of Mid-American Conference contests against the University of Toledo, Oct. 2, and Ball State University, Oct. 3. First serve for all three matches is scheduled for 7 p.m.
This weekend is also EMU's annual homecoming celebration with the football team hosting Temple University Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. in Rynearson Stadium. Fans attending the football game will receive free admission to the volleyball match by presenting their ticket stub. ALL-TIME VERSUS THE VIKINGS: Cleveland State and Eastern Michigan are renewing a rivalry that has dormate since the 2004 campaign Tuesday night, Sept. 29, at Woodling Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio. The Vikings and Eagles have met 16 previous times, with EMU holding a slim 9-7 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1983 season.
EAGLES AND ROCKETS BATTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON: The Eagles host the University of Toledo Friday, Oct. 1, at the Convocation Center. EMU leads the all-time series, 42-11, but the teams split the 2008 season series with the road team picking up a victory of each others' homecourt.
BALL STATE ON THE HORIZON: EMU and Ball State are meeting for the 56th time in the all-time series, which the Cardinals lead 38-17. Ball State won all three meetings last season, including a 3-0 (17-25 18-25, 19,25) setback to Ball State in the first round of the 2008 Mid-American Conference Tournament at Worthen Arena.
RANDOLPH RETURNS TO THE LINEUP: Senior outside hitter Victoria Randolph returned to the lineup versus Central Michigan, Sept. 26, after missing the Eagles' first 14 contests. Randolph broke her hand during practice leading up to the start of the season and was held out until the start of the Mid-American Conference campaign.
In her return, the Cincinnati, Ohio native picked up right where she left off in 2008. Randolph has 11 kills, three block assists and two digs versus the Chippewas.
CATCH EMU VOLLEYBALL WORDWIDE ON YOUR COMPUTER: In a continuing effort to provide cutting-edge coverage on EMUEagles.com, a minimum of four volleyball matches will be live video streamed as part of Eagle All-Access package on EMUEagles.com. The next scheduled broadcast is Tuesday, Oct. 6, when the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies come calling to the Convocation Center. Air time is schedule for 6:50 p.m. from the Convocation Center.

A TALE OF TWO TEAMS: The Eagles have had their share of ups and downs during the 2009 season, posting a 1-15 mark in 16 contests. In the one victory, EMU recording a .217 attack percentage to go along with 9.7 kills, 16.3 digs and 2.3 blocks per set. The opposition also posted just a .047 hitting percentage in that contests.
On the other side of the ledger in the setbacks, Eastern Michigan is managing just a .128 attack percentage and a drop to 11.2 kills, 15.5 digs and 1.7 blocks per set. The opponents are also posting a much better attack percentage at .239.
