EMU posts solid marks across the board to claim victory over Seattle Pacific.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team ended its spring break trip with a victory Friday night, Feb. 27, in Seattle, Wash., as the Eagles upended the Seattle Pacific University Falcons, 192.900-189.875, at Brougham Pavilion.
 
The victory puts EMU at 6-6 this season, while SPU drops to 1-8 with the loss.
 
The Eagles went ahead early with solid scores on the vault, as junior Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) carded a meet-best 9.825 to give EMU early momentum. Sophomores Jessica Perdoch (Reading, Pa.-Exeter Township) and Heather Qualls (Albuquerque, N.M.-La Cueva) each recorded a 9.700 on the vault, giving EMU a 48.325-47.875 advantage in the event.
 
Senior Maureen Moss (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township) tied her career-best mark on the balance beam, as the senior notched a 9.800 to finish in first place in the event to help EMU dominate on the beam, 48.100-46.725.
 
Junior Mickayla Balow (Blaine, Minn.-Spring Lake Park) carded a 9.700 in the floor exercise to put in her in the three-way tie for second place with Grigg and SPU's Brianna Steigauf.
 
The Eagles now head back to Ypsilanti to prepare for the Eagle Invitational, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Bowen Field House. Competing against EMU is Kent State University, Central Michigan University and the No. 13 Tigers of the University of Missouri.
