EAGLES HIT THE ROAD FOR THE FIRST OF THREE STRAIGHT: The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team returns to the road for a three-games road swing through the states of New York and Pennsylvania, Nov. 20-24. The Eagles' first stop is Friday, Nov. 20, against Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., followed by a Sunday, Nov. 22, tilt versus Niagara University in Niagara Falls, N.Y. The final leg of the trip includes a Tuesday, Nov. 24, visit to Philadelphia, Pa. for a showdown with Temple University.
The Eagles are looking to remain perfect on the young season, after capturing an 87-45 victory over Marygrove College Monday, Nov. 16, at the Convocation Center. Meanwhile, the Saints are 0-1 on the year after dropping an 85-53 decision Sunday, Nov. 15, to the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill.

A BULLSEYE ON SIENA: Eastern Michigan and Siena are meeting for the second time on the hardwood Friday, Nov. 20, in Loudonville, N.Y. Last season in Ypsilanti, the Eagles fell behind by as many as 11 points in the first half, but stormed back to defeat the Saints in overtime, 68-54, Nov. 24, 2008.

SCHROCK RECORDS THE THIRD TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN EMU HISTORY: Junior Cassie Schrock became just the third player in EMU women's basketball history to record a triple-double as the Eagles defeated Marygrove, 87-45, Nov. 16. Schrock posted 11 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists, joining All-Americans Stephanie Smiley and Ryan Coleman as the only women to accomplish the feat in the 34-year history of the program. Smiley turned in her triple-double Jan. 26, 2000, against Ohio University with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists. Coleman notched 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 91-50 victory over Western Michigan University, Feb. 12, 2005.

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY: Eastern Michigan's size proved a difference maker against Marygove in the 87-45 victory, Nov. 16. The Green and White racked up eight blocks and 56 rebounds en route to the 42-point decision. Paige Redditt rejected four Mustangs shots, while Chenise Miller and Kristin Thomas added a pair of blocks to their credit. The eight teams blocks was the most by an EMU squad since a 10 block perf romance against the University of Akron, Jan. 7, 2004.

ALL-TIME VERSUS THE METRO ATLANTIC ATHLETIC: Eastern is 7-4 all-time versus the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), having played Canisius College (4-2), Marist College (1-0), Niagara University (1-0), Siena College (1-0) and Saint Peter's College (0-2).
The Eagles last road contest against a team from the Edison, N.J. based conference was Dec. 29, 2004, when the Eagles rolled past the Golden Griffins of Canisius, 76-61, at the Koessler Athletic Center. That night Ryan Coleman paced EMU with 13 points, while Nikki Knapp and Melis Ulker added 12.

NIAGARA ON THE HORIZON: It will be battle of the birds Sunday, Nov. 22, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., as Eastern Michigan squares off against Niagara University. The schools are meeting for the second time with EMU holding the 1-0 edge in the series. The only other meeting was an opening round contest at the Best Western Roundball Classic hosted by the University of South Florida, Nov. 27, 2004, in Tampa, Fla. The game featured nine lead changes, as Ryan Coleman and Nikki Knapp both poured in 14 points, as the Eagles would upset the host Bulls the following day to claim the tournament title.

TEMPLE SET FOR PRE-THANKSGIVING CONTEST: Eastern Michigan and Temple have never met on the hardwood prior to Tuesday's scheduled contest. However, the schools are very familiar with each other with the Owls playing football as an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference. Temple will return the favor and travel to Ypsilanti for a non-conference tilt during the 2010-11 campaign.

EMU CLOSING IN ON 100 WINS INSIDE THE CONVOCATION CENTER: Eastern Michigan has racked up a solid home-court advantage inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center since the doors opened during the 1998-99 campaign. The Green and White have won 68.3 percent of the contests played in the building, racking up a 97-45 mark all time.

EQUALLING 2008-09 ALREADY: Just one road game into the this year's campaign and the Eagles have already equalled their road win-total from the 2008-09 season. EMU's lone victory away from the Convocation Center came in the team's 13th road game, a 56-45 decision over Miami University at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio, Feb. 14, 2009.

WINNING ON THE ROAD TO OPEN A SEASON HAS BEEN A RARITY: Head coach AnnMarie Gilbert's crew did something just seven other EMU squads have done in the program's history – open the season with a road victory. The last time Eastern Michigan won a season-opening contest away from Ypsilanti was 12 years ago against Canisius College. The Green and White cruised to an 86-46 victory in the opening round of the Idaho State University Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho, Nov. 21, 1997. EMU's last season-opening victory over a road opponent on their home court was Nov. 22, 1991, against the University of Akron.
