LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team opened the first of a three game East Coast road swing with a 77-55 win over Siena College at the Marcelle Athletic Complex Friday night, Nov. 20. The win moves EMU to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

Led by sophomore guard Tavelyn James' (Detroit, Mich.-Mumford) 20 first half points, the Eagles jumped out to a commanding 40-23 halftime lead. James shot an impressive 7-for-8 from the field in the opening stanza, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.

She continued with the hot hand in the second half, hitting another four 3-point field goals, en route to tying a school-record of eight in a single game. The previous record was held by Marion Crandall when she knocked down eight in a contest against Ball State University, Feb. 21, 2004, at the Convocation Center. Overall, James finished with 32 points in 22 minutes of work for EMU.

Junior power forward Kristin Thomas (Winter Park, Fla.-Edgewater-Hillsborough C.C.)  and freshman Lindsey Mahone (Corpus Christi, Texas-Mary Carroll) anchored a stingy Eagles' defense as the duo combined for 14 rebounds, seven each, and kept Siena's front line off the glass as well.

Sydney Huntley (Cincinnati, Ohio-Purcell Marian) controlled the second half tempo for Eastern, as she finished the game with 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field.

EMU finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field (28-for-64), while holding the Saints to just 18-for 46 from the field.

The win, their second road win of the season, pushes the Eagles past their entire 2008-09 road win total of one. Last year, the only road win for Eastern came Feb. 14, 2009 in a conference contest at Miami University.

The Eagles continue their road trip with a Sunday afternoon tilt, Nov. 22, against Niagara University in Niagara Falls, N.Y. at 2 p.m.
