Men's Swimming and Diving Picks up Win Against Wayne State

YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team dominated the No. 1 team in Division II swimming and diving, defeating Wayne State University, 164-79, Friday, Jan 23 at Jones Natatorium.
The Eagles started the evening strong, winning the 400 medley relay. Dan Kish (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton) then won the 200 free before senior Derick Roe (Sidney, Ohio-Sidney) won the 50 free. Roe also won the 100 free later in the evening. Don Ellison (King City, Ont.-King City Secondary), Troy Esentan (North Little Rock, Ark.-Central) and Scott Murphy (Houston, Texas-Cypress) then took the top three spots in the 400 IM to distance the Eagles from the Warriors.
Divers Shawn Gancarz (Grand Haven, Mich.-Grand Haven) and Matt Guinan (Victory, N.Y.-Victor Central) tied for top honors in the three-meter dive while Guinan also won the one-meter dive. EMU had four swimmers sweep the 200 IM to end the meet on a high note for the home team.
The Eagles are back in Mid-American Conference action tomorrow, Jan. 24, when they travel to Muncie, Ind. to take on Ball State University. The Eagles are currently riding a 51-MAC meet winning streak. The teams are scheduled to hit the water at 1 p.m.
