FIRST MAC ROAD TILT: The Eastern Michigan men's basketball team will hit the Mid-American Conference road for the first time in 2009 when the Eagles head south on US-23 to play the University of Toledo Saturday, Jan. 17. Game time is 7 p.m. in the newly renovated Savage Arena.

DOUBLE-OVERTIME WIN: EMU evened its record at 1-1 in Mid-American Conference play with a 84-77 double-overtime win over a visiting Central Michigan University team at home in the Convocation Center Tuesday, Jan. 13. The overtime game was the first for EMU since a 75-72 loss, Dec. 29, 2007, against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the second game of the Islander Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas. The last EMU overtime victory came at Central Michigan, March 2, 2007, when the Eagles captured an 87-83 win. The last double-overtime win came on Feb. 28, 1996 when Eastern recorded an 81-77 victory over a visiting Ohio University squad. EMU now has a 10-10 record in the last 20 overtime games.

THIRD AND FOURTH DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR BOWDRY: EMU redshirt sophomore Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) came up with a monster effort in EMU's 84-77 double-overtime win over Central Michigan Tuesday, Jan. 13. Bowdry turned in the fourth double-double of his career with 22 points and 14 rebounds against the Chippewas. The double-double was not only his fourth as an Eagle, but also his third this season. He scored 23 points with 10 rebounds against Chicago State, Jan. 3, and tallied 26 points with 14 boards against Marygrove, Nov. 14. His other double-double came during the 2006-07 season when he recorded 23 points with 10 rebounds as a freshman, Dec, 9, 2006, at home against Chicago State. Bowdry leads the Eagles in scoring, 16.2, and rebounding, 6.9, this season while playing all 16 games, starting 15 times.

FOR THE 112th TIME: The 2008-09 season is the 112th of intercollegiate basketball for the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. Eastern played its first season in 1897-98 and split games with Detroit, losing a 2-0 decision before coming back for a 4-0 victory. The 2008-09 season will also be the 35th for the Eagles in the Mid-American Conference. The first year of MAC play for EMU was 1974-75 when the then-Hurons went 12-14 overall and 4-9 in league play. EMU has won three Mid-American Conference titles: 1987-88, 1990-91, and 1995-96, and the Green and White captured MAC Tournament crowns in all three of those years in addition to winning the tournament title in 1997-98.

EMU AND TOLEDO: EMU enters Saturday's, Jan. 17, game at Toledo with a 3-13 overall record and a 1-1 Mid-American Conference mark after posting a thrilling 84-77 double-overtime win over a visiting Central Michigan University team Tuesday, Jan. 13, at home in the Convocation Center. Redshirt sophomore Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) continues to lead the Eagles with a 16.2 scoring average and a 6.9 rebound mark. Bowdry turned in the fourth double-double of his career with 22 points and 14 rebounds against CMU. Junior center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) is averaging 10.1 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Toledo has a 2-14 overall record and an 0-2 MAC mark. Saturday's, Jan. 17, game will mark their first home MAC game of the year. Toledo lost at Northern Illinois, 75-51, Jan. 10, and dropped a 70-52 decision at Western Michigan, Jan. 14. The Rockets are led in scoring by Tyrone Kent at 15.7 ppg and Jonathan Amos at 13.0.

THE SERIES: EMU and Toledo will be meeting for the 82nd time in men's basketball history when the two squads square off Saturday, Jan. 17, in the newly renovated Savage Hall in Toledo, Ohio. The two teams split last year, with EMU notching a 68-44 win on Jan. 22, 2008 in Ypsilanti and Toledo bouncing back to record a 72-63 victory, March 4, 2008, in Toledo. Toledo has won seven of the last 10.

Frazier (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ypsilanti) both turned in a career-best effort in EMU's 84-77 double-overtime win over CMU Tuesday, Jan. 13. Jones scored a career-high 22 points, including making 7-of-9 field goals and 7-of-11 free throws while Frazier set his career scoring best with 17 points, hitting 4-of-10 field goals and 3-of-6 3-point attempts.

Truman), is climbing the EMU career points and rebound ladder at a brisk pace. Bowdry, who has started in 43 of the 48 games in which he has played, is currently 82nd on the EMU career scoring list with 525 points and his 284 career rebounds is 62nd.
