Women's Swimming In Second Place After First Day of EMU Invite

Eagles trail No. 14 Wolverines by four points
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team sits in second place by only four points after the first session of the EMU Invitational, Friday, Dec. 5. EMU trails the No. 14 University of Michigan, 297-293.
U-M is leading after day one, followed by EMU, Wayne State (199), Toledo (174), Kalamazoo (61), Northern Michigan (27) and Findlay (24).
Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills) hit the wall second in the 100 free, before Ashley Durand (Lincoln, Neb.-Southeast) captured the 200 breaststroke. Elisa Torres (Antioch, Calif.-Deer Valley) followed that up with another runner-up finish for the Eagles, placing second in the 200 fly. The 400 freestyle team ended the day with a second place showing, placing the Eagles only four points behind the Wolverines.
The EMU Invitational concludes tomorrow, Dec. 6, with the morning session beginning at 10 a.m. The evening session is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Jones Natatorium.
