YPSILANTI, Mich-
The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team defeated the No. 1 team in Division II swimming and diving, defeating Wayne State University 155-82, Friday, Jan. 23 at Jones Natatorium.  
 
The Eagles got the night started by taking the top two spots in the 400 medley relay, followed by Samantha Partridge (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) winning the 1,000 free. Alissa Ricard (Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina Foothills), Hannah Burandt (Parma, Ohio-Parma) and Leeza Moser (Vicksburg, Mich.) followed that up by going 1-2-3 in the 200 free. The Eagles continued their dominance by taking the top three places in the 50 free, led by Sarah Kowalski's (Muncie, Ind.-Yorktown) first-place finish.
 
Sophomore diver Lesely Vizurraga (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) won the three-meter dive while Ricard and Kowalski hit the wall first and second in the 100 free. Moser won her second event of the evening when she captured the 200 backstroke before Chelsea Allard (Walnut Creek, Calif.-Lake Forest) won the 200 breaststroke. The 400 freestyle relay team ended the evening with a win for the Green and White.
 
The Eagles are back in Mid-American Conference action tomorrow, Jan. 24, when they head to Muncie, Ind. to take on the Ball State University Eagles. EMU is currently first place in the conference with a 3-1 record.
