Track & Field Set to Conclude Regular Season with Two In-State Meets

Eagles will compete at the Hillsdale College Last Chance Wednesday, May 6, and the Len Paddock Open Friday, May 8
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs will see their final week of the outdoor regular season, sending athletes to both the Hillsdale College Last Chance, hosted by Hillsdale College, at the Outdoor Track at Hayden Park, Wednesday, May 6, and the Len Paddock Open, Friday, May 8, hosted by the University of Michigan, at the U-M Track & Field Stadium.
The Hillsdale College Last Chance is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, and the Len Paddock Open Friday, May 8, will also begin at 11 a.m.

Last Time at Hillsdale College Last Chance
Eastern competed at the Hillsdale College Last Chance last season, May 7. The men were highlighted by Olawole Olanrewaju (Akoko North-West, Nigeria/Wallas Universal Secondary School/Lenoir-Rhyne), who finished the 400m dash in second and tied with Bamidele Ajayi (Eikiti State, Nigeria Metropolitan International College Lenoir-Rhyne) for the fastest time in the conference, 46.85. Overall, the meet saw three athletes finish in first, seven finish in the top three, 10 athletes earn a PR, and five earn a season best.
The women saw Ajah Arscott (Plantation, Fla./Taravella) place first in both the 100m dash prelims (11.72) and 200m dash (23.52). Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School/Tayelolu Memorial) had a strong performance in the 400m dash, placing first in 54.03, and Alimot Alowonle (Lagos, Nigeria Tindip College New Orleans) won the long jump with a 5.74m (18-10.00) leap. In total, four finished in first with eight athletes finishing in the top three, 11 athletes tabbed a personal-best and seven grabbed a season-best.
Last Time at Len Paddock Open
The Eagles were highlighted by multiple personal best performances at the Len Paddock Open last season, May 9. Michael Hawkins (Detroit, Mich./Cass Technical/Michigan State) ran a PR in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.33, Isaac Garcia (Greely, Col./South County) rounded-out the 1500m group with a 4:14.38 PR, and Leland Godfrey (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral/Sacramento State) collected a 15.50m (50-10.25) PR in the shot put for a fourth-place finish.
For the women, Shamoya Clemetson (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) won the 100m hurdles in 13.76, while the high jump duo of Natalie Buratczuk (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North) and Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) placed first and second, respectively, in the high jump as both cleared 1.65m (5-05.00). Additionally, former Eagle Erica King improved her program top 10 mark in the javelin throw to No. 6 with a personal best 42.17m (138-04) mark.
Last Time Out: Jesse Owens Invitational
The Eagles last competed at the Jesse Owens Invitational, hosted by Ohio State University, May 1-2. Top finishes on the men's side included both Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) and Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) earning second-place in their respective events. Wiles ran the 800m in 1:49.18, now leading the conference, while McEachern saw a hammer throw of 63.17m (207-03).
The women saw a strong showing in the 800m, as Christiana Coleman (Pompano Beach, Fla./Dillard/Florida) finished sixth in the 800m at 2:09.54, just off her all-time top-10 program mark, Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Easton Area/Rutgers) finished 10th, and Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) finished 17th.

- The 4x400m relay team of Uduak Udosoh, Saraiah Walkes, Josephine Oloye, and Demetria Henderson lead the MAC with a time of 3:33.86 (school record)
- Mariah Taylor holds the best triple jump in the conference with a 12.92m (42-04.75) mark (school record)
