Nine Track & Field Student-Athletes Punch Tickets to NCAA East First Round

Competing Eagles seek respective berths in the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Round competitions, revealing nine Eastern Michigan University Eagles on the list Thursday, May 22.
Five members of the women's team and four Eastern men will compete at the NCAA East First Round, hosted by the University of Kentucky at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Stadium, in Lexington, Wednesday-Saturday, May 27-30. The qualifiers out of the East and West Regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field in Eugene, June 10-13.

Women's Qualifiers
Leading the women's qualifiers is Mariah Taylor (East Lake, Fla./East Lake) who holds the 31st-ranked triple jump in the East Region at 12.92m (42-04.75), an EMU school record and second-best in the conference.
Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) made the list with her time of 23.30 in the 200m dash, ranking 42nd in the region and second in the conference, while her personal-best time of 23.19 from last season is the second-best time in program history.
Eastern's 4x400m relay team also qualified with a time of 3:33.86, which leads the conference, and is a school record. The qualifying team consists of Walkes, Uduak Udosoh (Abak, Nigeria/Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary), Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School) and Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom), while Liusmar Rivas Velasquez (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) and Alba Viñals Calixto (Arinsal, Andorra/Escola Andorrana de Segona Ensenyança d'Ordino) will also attend as alternates.

Men's Qualifiers
Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) holds the highest-ranking mark of the men's qualifiers for Eastern with a 64.29m (210-11) hammer throw, slotting 32nd in the East Region, as well as second in the conference and sixth in program history.
Also qualified for a throwing event is Ray Glory-Ejoyokah (Southfield, Mich./Wylie E. Groves), as his discus throw of 55.02m (180-6) is tied for 42nd in the region, stands third in the conference, and is fourth-best in the EMU record book.
Gabe Oliveira (São Paulo, Brazil/Escola Estadual Jornalista David Nasser) will compete in the triple jump, as his qualifying mark of 15.54m (51-00) is tied for 37th in the region, ranks second in the conference, and is the seventh-best mark in program history.
On the track, Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) qualified with his personal best time of 3:39.87 in the 1500m, ranking 34th in the East Region. The time also leads the conference by more than five seconds, and is the second-best time in Eastern history.
