LEXINGTON, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University track & field concluded its season after sending nine student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of Kentucky, from May 27 through May 30.

How it Happened - Women
On the women's side, Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) placed 36th in the first round of the 200m, clocking 23.59. Walkes already ranks as the second-fastest performer in EMU history in the 200m, trailing only Sevatheda Fynes.

In the triple jump, sophomore Mariah Taylor (East Lake, Fla./East Lake) finished 29th at 12.51m (41-00.50), a mark that would be seventh all-time at EMU. Taylor entered the meet as the Eastern program record holder with a season best of 12.92m (42-04.75).

The women's 4x400m relay of Walkes, Uduak Udosoh (Abak, Nigeria/Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary), Demetria Henderson (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) and Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School) posted a 3:35.05 in the quarterfinals. This performance stands as the second-fastest in program history, trailing only the squad's own school record 3:33.86 from the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open earlier this season.

How it Happened - Men
For the men, Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) placed 23rd in the 1500m with a time of 3:46.12. Wiles ran a best time of 3:39.87 this season, becoming the No. 2 performer all-time at Eastern in the event, as well as claiming the 1500m title at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:48.30.

In the field, Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) finished 23rd in the hammer throw with a mark of 63.36m (207-10). His preliminary throw would rank 10th on the EMU all-time list, while his season best of 64.29 meters is No. 6 in program history.

Freshman Ray Glory-Ejoyokah (Southfield, Mich./Wylie E. Groves) threw 51.06m (167-6) in the discus, placing 42nd. His season best of 55.02m (180-06) ranks fourth all-time at EMU, and his preliminary performance would be ninth-best in school history.

Gabe Oliveira (São Paulo, Brazil/Escola Estadual Jornalista David Nasser) finished 27th in the triple jump with a leap of 15.30m (50-02.50), while his season best of 15.54m (51-00.00) is seventh on the program's outdoor triple jump list.
