ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed third Friday, March 13, after adding the meet to its schedule Thursday, finishing with its third-highest score of the season against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 9 Michigan. Oklahoma claimed the top spot, followed by Michigan, while Eastern closed out the meet in third with a 195.025. The Eagles were highlighted by Kyrie Lowe, who posted a career-best 39.175 in the all-around and tied for third on bars against the nationally ranked competition.
Eastern opened the meet on beam and recorded a 48.800 team score. Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) led the rotation with matching 9.800s, while Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) and Kendall Landry (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) each added 9.750 routines. Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) contributed a 9.700, and Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) rounded out the lineup with a 9.025 as the Eagles began the meet with a solid opening rotation.
Eastern moved to the floor and recorded a 48.925 team score. Lowe, Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School), and Priya Karle (Canton, Mass./Canton) each posted 9.800 routines to lead the rotation, while Landry followed with a 9.775. Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) added a 9.750 to tie her career best. Georgie Slack (Uttoxeter, Staffordshire/Thomas Alleynes) competed in exhibition and scored a 9.725 as the Eagles continued to build momentum in the second rotation.
Eastern continued on vault and recorded a 48.675 team score. Landry led the Eagles with a 9.800, while Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area), Lowe, and Genae Daniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) each posted 9.725s. Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) added a 9.700, and Slack contributed a 9.675. Nihart competed in exhibition and scored a 9.650 as Eastern remained steady through the third rotation.
Eastern closed the meet on bars with a 48.625 team score. Lowe led the Eagles with a 9.850 to tie for third overall. Solorio and Patterson each added 9.725 routines, while Kohler posted a 9.700. Cantu contributed a 9.625, and Daniel rounded out the lineup with a 9.100. Evans competed in exhibition and scored a 9.425 as Eastern completed its final rotation.
