Habhab tallied 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal

BOONE, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Mohammad Habhab led the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team in a narrow 65-60 loss at Appalachian State Saturday, Feb. 7, inside the Holmes Convocation Center, as part of the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Challenge.

Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn/Central Michigan) recorded 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal in a game that EMU trailed by one point on three separate occasions in the second half.

Addison Patterson (Mississauga, Ontario/Bella Vista College Prep/Northwestern State) added 14 points and nine rebounds and Jon Sanders II (Southfield, Mich./Southfield Christian Northwestern State) scored 12 points.

Gregory Lawson II (Saginaw, Mich./Oak Cliff Academy) rounded out Eastern's double-digit scorers with 10 points.

How It Happened
Eastern built an early 7-4 advantage before a 10-2 Appalachian State run put the hosts ahead.

Habhab put EMU back ahead, 25-23, with a bucket at the 4:26 mark, which served as Eastern's final lead of the contest.

The Mountaineers used a 13-5 spurt to retake the lead but a Patterson triple to close the first 20 minutes resulted in a 36-33 ASU halftime advantage.

Eastern came within one on three occasions in the second half, highlighted by a 42-41 deficit with 11:17 remaining before the hosts used a 12-6 run to widen their advantage.

With the Eagles trailing 56-51, the teams played scoreless from the 4:19 to 2:16 mark as Eastern was unable to capitalize on keeping ASU without points during that span.

Braelon Green (Southfield, Mich./Southfield/Bowling Green) knocked down a three with 1:37 left to cut the deficit to 58-54 but the Mountaineers scored the next five points to put the game away.
