MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University track & field programs opened the 2026 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Indoor Championships, hosted by Central Michigan University, at the Jack Skoog Track, Friday, Feb. 27, with a title from the men's 4,000m distance medley relay team.

The team of Ronan Codyre, Michael Hawkins, Ty Dailey, and Jimmy Geller won the relay in 10:04.50 for the Eagles' lone title of the day.

The men are in third with 28 points behind a strong relay, distance and field event performances. With only four of 17 scored events complete, the Eagles trail Akron and Kent State in the early conference standings.

The women are in 11th with seven points, with 11 more scored events yet to come in the second day of action, and four athletes qualified for tomorrow's finals.

How it Happened – Men
The men were highlighted by the distance medley relay win of Codyre (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College), Hawkins (Detroit, Mich./Cass Technical/Michigan State), Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), and Geller (London, England/Davenant Foundation School) as the lone title for the programs on day one, but were supported with multiple scoring finishes in the field events and seven advancements to tomorrow's track final events.

In the field, Gabe Oliveira (São Paulo, Brazil/Escola Estadual Jornalista David Nasser) grabbed third in the long jump with a season-best 7.26m (23-10.00) mark, and Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) matched him with a third-place finish in the weight throw, reaching 19.56m (64-02.25). DeMarrio Roetherford (Detroit, Mich./Wyandotte/Madonna) added a fifth place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 18.98m (62-03.25)

Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) provided important distance points with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000m, with a time of 14:31.35. In the heptathlon, both Cason Doolittle (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) and Julien Badoo (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) set personal or season bests in their opening events to keep EMU in the hunt for multi-event points. Doolittle improved his program top 10 marks in two of the events, with a personal best clearance of 1.94m (6-04.25) in the high jump, and a 6.20m (20-04.25) mark in the long jump.

The Eagles got off to a fast start on the track, with Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) clocking 1:53.10 to top all qualifiers in the 800-meter run. Carson McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) also advanced to the final in 1:54.44. Jamyle Anderson moved forward in both the 60-meter dash and 200 meters with times of 6.89 and 22.19, respectively, while Hawkins and Leo Ignacio (Saline, Mich./Saline) advanced to the 60-meter hurdles final with times of 8.19 and 8.30, respectively.

How it Happened - Women
Faith Moore (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) led the way in the field, capturing fourth place in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 18.46 meters (60-6.75), improving her program No. 4 mark. Contributing two points for the Eagles was Ashtan Winfrey (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Africentric Early College), as she finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.77m (18-11.25).

On the track, the Eagles were highlighted by strong preliminary performances. Jordynn Young (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) made a statement in her MAC debut, advancing to the 60-meter dash final after a 7.56 showing. In the 400 meters, Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Tayelolu Memorial) posted a season-best 57.11 to secure a finals spot. Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Rutgers) qualified for the 800-meter final in 2:12.08, joined by Christiana Coleman (Pompano Beach, Fla./Florida), who recorded a season-best 2:12.74 to advance.

Shamoya Clemetson (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) contributed to the pentathlon with three top-four finishes and three program top 10 mark improvements. Lena Korte (Clinton, Mich./Clinton), earned her spot in the program top 10 in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 16.59m (54-05.25) for spot No. 10, now tied with Adrienne Waisner, who set the mark in 2015.
