YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed second in a tightly contested tri meet at Western Michigan University with a 195.200. Host Western Michigan took the top spot with a 195.275, while Illinois State finished third with a 194.675. The Eagles recorded season-best team scores on bars (48.775) and floor (49.050), while
Kyrie Lowe captured her fifth all-around title of the season with a 39.100 to match her career best. Keeley Kohler also posted a season-best routine on bars, leading Eastern's standout performances.  Eastern now holds an 8-7 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Mid-American Conference play.

How It Happened:
Eastern opened the meet on vault and posted a strong 48.775 team score. Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area), Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic), and Kendall Landry (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) led the rotation with matching 9.775s, while Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) and Savanna Dunwoody (Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish) each added 9.725s. Genae Daniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) contributed a 9.700, and Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School) scored a 9.675 in exhibition as the Eagles began the meet with a consistent performance.

Eastern moved to uneven bars, recording a season-best team score of 48.775. Lowe led the lineup with a 9.825 to place third overall, while Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) delivered a season-best 9.800 to tie for fourth. Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) added a 9.750, Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) posted a 9.725, Daniel scored a 9.675, and Cantu contributed a 9.600. Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) competed in exhibition as the Eagles produced their top bars performance of the season.

Eastern continued on beam and posted a 48.600 team score, highlighted by strong routines from Landry and Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper), who each scored 9.775 to lead the Eagles. Lowe and Patterson followed with matching 9.700s, while Kohler added a 9.650. Solorio contributed a 9.250 as Eastern maintained consistency through the third rotation.

Eastern closed the meet on the floor with its highest event score of the night, a season-best 49.050. Lowe and Priya Karle (Canton, Mass./Canton) led the rotation with matching 9.850s to tie for third overall, as Lowe matched her career best and Karle tied her career high while surpassing her season best. Nihart and Brushwood each added 9.800s, Landry posted a 9.750, and Sanai Evans contributed a 9.600 as the Eagles finished with a powerful final rotation.

The result moved the all-time series with Western Michigan to 20-19 in favor of the Broncos, extending Eastern's skid in the matchup to eight meets. Eastern also defeated Illinois State, improving its all-time series advantage to 9-4 and extending its winning streak against the Redbirds to eight meets.
