PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell to Temple University, 194.575-193.000, after a competitive four-rotation meet inside McGonigle Hall on Friday, Feb. 20. Kyrie Lowe captured the all-around title with a career-best 39.100 to lead the Eagles, while Katin Childress won beam, Abby Brushwood took first on floor, and tied for the vault title Genae Daniel with a 9.800.
How It Happened:
Eastern began the meet on uneven bars and recorded a 47.975 team score. Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) and Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) led the Eagles with matching 9.750s, while Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) added a 9.650. Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) posted a season-best 9.375, and Genae Daniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) contributed scores of 9.450 and 9.325, respectively. Georgie Slack (Uttoxeter, England/Thomas Alleynes) competed in exhibition.
The Eagles moved to vault and improved to a 48.575 team total, highlighted by co-event champion Daniel, who scored 9.800. Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) and Savanna Dunwoody (Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish) followed with 9.725s, while Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) and Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School) both posted 9.600. Jaelyn Stetz (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) got a 9.550 in exhibition as Eastern remained within striking distance.
Eastern delivered one of its strongest rotations on floor with a 48.700 team score. Brushwood captured the event title with a 9.825, while Lowe followed with a 9.800 to match her career best. Nihart added a 9.725, and Kendall Landry (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) and Priya Karle (Canton, Mass./Canton) posted 9.675 and 9.650. Evans recorded a career-best 9.675, and Brianna Lucas (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) topped a career high with a 9.675 in exhibition.
The meet concluded on beam, where Eastern posted a 47.750. Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) secured the event crown with a 9.850, while Lowe added a season-best 9.825. Kohler contributed a 9.725, and Solorio posted a 9.225. Patterson scored a 9.125, and Nihart rounded out the lineup. Landry delivered a career-best 9.675 in exhibition to close the afternoon.
