Landry claims vault title with career-best while Brushwood wins floor tying season high

MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Despite posting season-best team totals on vault, bars, and floor, the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team dropped a tightly contested meet to Ball State University, 195.025-194.125, inside Worthen Arena Sunday, Feb. 15. The Eagles delivered one of their strongest overall performances of the season, highlighted by event titles from Kendall Landry on vault with a career-best 9.850 and Abby Brushwood on floor with a 9.875 to match her season high.
How It Happened:
Eastern opened the meet on uneven bars with a season-best 48.800 team score, surpassing its previous high by .750. Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) led the rotation with a 9.825 to match her season best, while Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) followed with a 9.700 to tie her career high. Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) added a 9.750 and Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) contributed a 9.650, while Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) posted a season-best 9.350. Georgie Slack (Uttoxeter, England/Thomas Alleynes) matched her career best with a 9.525 in exhibition as the Eagles delivered their top bars performance of the year to start the meet.
Eastern carried the momentum into the vault, recording another season-best team score of 48.950, surpassing its previous high by .250. Kendall Landry (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) led the way with a career-best 9.850 to capture the event title, while Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) delivered a season-best 9.775. Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School) made her collegiate vault debut and scored a career-best 9.725, matched by Gwendelyn Cantu's (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) 9.725. Savanna Dunwoody (Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish) tied her career high with a 9.775, and Genae Daniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) competed on vault for the first time this season, tying her career best with a 9.825. Slack added a 9.675 in exhibition.
Eastern moved to beam and recorded a 47.750 team score, highlighted by Patterson's team-best 9.825. Lowe followed with a 9.750 to tie her season high, while Kohler added a 9.600 and Solorio posted a 9.325. Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) contributed a 9.250, and Nihart rounded out the lineup with a 9.050. Landry competed in exhibition and delivered a career-best 9.600.
