Holland Named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week

Redshirt junior made 11 saves to keep back-to-back clean sheets
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Redshirt junior Ella Holland was named Mid-American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week following a pair of clean sheets for the Eastern Michigan University soccer team in its first two MAC matches. The MAC revealed its weekly winners Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) is the only Eagle to earn MAC Player of the Week honors since Sabrina McNeil (March, 23, 2021) and the first from EMU to ever receive MAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors as the conference elected to add the honor ahead of the 2025 season. Holland was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week once in her career, Oct. 29, 2024.
Holland, who has consecutive shutouts for the third time in her career, played a critical role in keeping Buffalo, Sept. 18, and Toledo, Sept. 21, off the scoreboard in EMU's 1-0 victories, marking the first time Eastern has posted back-to-back clean sheets to open MAC play since the 2012 season.
For the week, Holland made 11 saves. She produced eight saves in one match for the fourth time in her career, making numerous impressive stops against UB, Sept. 18. She also made a trio of saves against Toledo, Sept. 21, including a stop in the waning seconds of the contest.
With her three clean sheets this season, the redshirt junior is up to 13 career shutouts, sixth-most in program history.
