Duo combined for two Big West titles and five NCAA Regional appearances at Long Beach State

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Josh Brewer, head coach of the Eastern Michigan University women's golf program, announced today, June 2, the additions of twin sisters Janae Leovao and Jasmine Leovao to the 2025-26 roster after the duo transferred to Ypsilanti from Long Beach State University. Both players have had remarkable collegiate careers and will come to Eastern Michigan for the final season.

"Today is an amazing day for Eastern Michigan Women's Golf and the Leovao family," Brewer said. "We're excited to have Janae and Jasmine as a part of our program and join each other's family. Usually, you speak about a recruit individually; however, I must first mention their connection as twins and sisters. Their closeness is a reason for their success and was important in their decision. Their confidence and drive to win is going to help us challenge the top of college golf. We want to thank them and their family for seeing the vision we have for our program and them individually."

Jasmine (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) was the top player for The Beach in 2024-25 as she competed in the NCAA Regionals for the third consecutive year and the second time as an individual qualifier. She tied for eighth at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional and was the second-highest individual finisher not on a qualifying team, missing out her second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance after playing in the 2024 event. A two-time Big West Conference Champion (2023 and 2024), Jasmine has climbed to No. 97 in the final collegiate rankings, an improvement of 146 positions from the final 2023-24 rankings (No. 243) and is currently ranked No. 252 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (June 1). Throughout the season, she played 12 events and finished in the top 20 in 11, including three top five showings.

"Jasmine is a two-time Big West champion who owns many records during her three years at The Beach," Brewer said. "Her ability to go low and win is going to be fun to watch while in Ypsi. These characteristics are important as she helps elevate our program to a new level.

Janae (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State), who finished the 2024-25 season with a ranking of No. 148, an improvement of 163 places from her 2023-24 final ranking (No. 311), competed in the NCAA Regionals twice for The Beach with her best finish coming this past season where she tied for 17th at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional, making her the second-highest finisher among all individual qualifiers in the region behind only her sister. She also finished 41st one year prior when the team qualified for the NCAA Cle Elum Regional. Currently ranked a personal-best No. 465th in the WAGR (June 1), played in 12 events in 2024-25 and placed in the top 25 in all 12 with two top five and four top 10 showings. A high school standout at ECHS, Janae was a four-time All-CIF First-Team honoree and won back-to-back Avocado East League titles. She also posted four top five finishes on the junior circuit in 2020, including wins at the PAR BAR Junior Championship and the Charley Hoffman Foundation Junior Championship. A standout at El Camino High School, she was a four-time All-CIF First Team honoree and won the Avocado East League individual title as a freshman and was named the Avocado East Player of the Year one season later. She placed fourth at the CIF State Championships in 2021 and won two junior circuit tournaments in 2020.

"Janae's trajectory up the college and amateur golf rankings is a testament to her work ethic and belief in herself," Brewer stated. "She has been close to winning at the college level. When this happens, the floodgates could open as her talent matches anyone I have coached."

The addition of the Leovao sisters gives the 2025-26 roster six new faces has previously added one transfer in Baiyok Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Barton CC/Lindsey Wilson) and three incoming freshmen in Pavitida 'Amy' Raemmuang (Phitsanulok, Thailand/St. Nicholas School), Krittiya 'Grace' Thanintorndamrongdej (Bangkok, Thailand/Kasetsart University Laboratory School), and Matilde Zocchi (Turin, Italy/Liceo Vittoria HS).
