Two-time NCAA Division II All-American set to join the Eagles this fall
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Andy Walker, head coach of the Eastern Michigan University men's golf program, announced, May 29, the addition of standout Leandro Mihaich to the 2025-26 roster with the incoming senior set to play his final collegiate season with the Eagles this fall. A two-time NCAA Division II All-American and the 2024 NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus Award winner, Mihaich (Bell Ville, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior Figueroa Alcorta/Oklahoma Christian) brings a wealth of talent and collegiate success to Ypsilanti.
"It is not every day you get a chance to add a Jack Nicklaus Award winner to your roster," Walker said of the newest Eagle. "I'm very excited to get to work with Leo as he prepares in his senior season for the PGA Tour. His ball striking is elite, and he is going to add leadership and experience to this already deep recruiting class."
Mihaich, who has ranked as high as No. 332 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings list, has played two stellar seasons for Oklahoma Christian where he was a two-time Lone Star Conference individual champion before earning NCAA Division II All-America honors in both 2024 and 2025. During the past season (2024-25), Mihaich was ranked No. 9 nationally and averaged 70.3 strokes as he added a pair of third-place finishes to his league title. He also placed 20th at the NCAA Division II Championships and helped his team to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Match-Play event. For his efforts, he was named a finalist for the 2025 NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus Award.
He burst onto the scene in 2023-24 when he transferred to Oklahoma Christian and ended the year ranked No. 2 nationally with an average of 69.8. The LSC individual medalist, Mihaich finished 18th at the NCAA Division II Championships to finish the campaign. For his body of work, he was named the 2024 NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus Award recipient as well as the inaugural winner of the 2024 NCAA Division Gary Player International Golfer of the Year honor.
Mihaich is the sixth signee for Walker as the Argentine is set to join two junior transfers in Charlie Box (Leicester, England/Wreake Valley Academy/Hutchinson CC) and Jorge Parada (Hermosillo, Mexico/IMG Academy/South Mountain CC) along with three freshmen in Hugo Duquaine (Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium/CAP International), Joshua Hess (Schattdorf, Switzerland/Montverde Academy), and Robby Turnbull (Auckland, New Zealand/Sewlyn College).
