EAST LANSING, Mich.  (EMUEagles.com) –  The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team battled No. 23 Michigan State University, falling, 92-60, in non-conference action at the Breslin Center Sunday, Nov. 9.
 
Sisi Eleko (Montreal, Quebec/New Hope Academy/Canisius) (18 points/eight rebounds), Fernanda Ovalle (Santiago, Chile/Montverde Academy/Xavier) (15 points on 5-for-9 shooting), and Peyton Hill (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) (10 points off 4-for-7 shooting) led the Eagles.
 
How it Happened
The Eagles started strong, leading the Spartans, 6-5, into the first media timeout after a trio of layups from Hill and Brooklyn Thrash (Wayne, Ohio/Elmwood/Canisius). Each team traded blows the remainder of the quarter as the Spartans led by four at the end of one, 19-15.
 
Michigan State controlled the second quarter of play, outscoring EMU, 29-11, off 71% shooting from the field. MSU went on a 15-point run from the 8:10-6:05 mark as the Eagles entered the half down 22 points, 48-26. Ovalle ended the half with a season-high eight points.
 
Eleko cashed in the first EMU points of the second half, laying in a transition bucket with the assist from Ovalle. Eastern scored five straight in the middle minutes of the quarter, featuring consecutive buckets by Eleko (three-pointer) and Believe Tshibangu (Courtice, Ontario/Royal Crown Secondary) (two-pointer). MSU led, 74-35, at the end of three with Eleko scoring a team-high nine points in the quarter.
 
Michigan State closed out the game with a 92-60 victory as both Ovalle and Hill notched six points in the fourth quarter.

» Eastern's record moved to 1-2 (0-0 MAC) and Michigan State's went to 2-0 (0-0 B1G).
» EMU's 60 points are the most it has scored against a top-25 team since it recorded 68 against No. 25 Gonzaga in a 77-68 loss in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, Dec. 20, 2020. The 60 points are the most against a "Power Five" foe since the Eagles notched 61 in an 89-61 loss to Wake Forest, Nov. 20, 2016, and the most against a Big Ten Conference member since Eastern topped Michigan, 64-63, Dec. 23, 2015.  
» Eastern's 60 points is its highest total against Michigan State since it notched 61 against the Spartans in the 2014-15 season, Nov. 16.
» Eastern dished a season-high 17 assists, a figure that ranks third in the MAC by value and the most a MAC school has had against a Power-Five opponent this season. Its 37.5% three-point field-goal percentage slots second in the conference by value.
» Sisi Eleko led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points while shooting 8-for-15 from the field, including 2-for-4 from three-point range. She collected her third consecutive double-digit scoring outing of the season, elevating her career total to 70. Eleko also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.  
» Fernanda Ovalle scored a season-high 15, marking the most she has scored as an Eagle and her first 10+ point game in the Block E, marking the ninth of her career. Ovalle shot 5-for-9 from the field, 1-for-2 from three, and 4-for-5 from the free throw line.
» Ainhoa Cea (Irun, Spain/IES Pio Baroja Bhi/Lipscomb) had a season high of seven points and seven assists. The game marked her first time eclipsing three assists as an Eagle, marking the 74th occurrence of her career. Cea has had at least five assists in all three games this season as she currently sits second in the MAC by value with 5.7 assists per game.
» Ainhoa Cea's seven assists rank second in the MAC by volume in 2025-26.
» Peyton Hill turned in her third consecutive double-digit scoring game of the season as she scored 10 points while shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from three.
» Artemis Kouki (Athens, Greece/ACS Athens/Western Michigan) dished a career-high four assists.

Historical Notes
» The meeting marked the 19th all-time between the Eagles and Spartans. Eastern holds a 1-18 record when facing Michigan State and a 0-11 mark on the road.
» Eastern is now 172-170 against teams from the state of Michigan.
» The Eagles are now 14-53 all-time against the current members of the Big Ten Conference.
