YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Cameryn Susey's 85th-minute match-winning goal opened a new era for the Eastern Michigan University soccer team under first-year Head Coach Taylor Clarke as the Eagles topped Oakland University, 1-0, Thursday, Aug. 15, at Scicluna Field in the opening match of the 2024 season.
How It Happened
A scoreless opening half saw the Eagles earn four corner kicks in the first 13 minutes of the contest before the teams went into halftime scoreless.
Eastern increased pressure in the second half before ultimately finding the match's lone goal in the 85th-minute. Assisted by sophomore Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and junior Mary Grimes (Commerce Township, Mich./Walled Lake Central), Susey (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) snuck a shot past the OU keeper inside the left post to provide the game-winner.
